5 Reasons You Shouldn’t Be Cheap When Going to Court

June 13, 2022 by Sam Hayes

Going to court is something that most people would rather not do, but sometimes, there’s just no way around it. If you end up having to go to court, it’s important to pull out all the stops and hire a good lawyer, who most likely won’t come cheap. The following are five reasons why doing this may be in your best interests.

1. You Get Much Better Results

When you’re backed by a knowledgeable and reliable attorney, you cannot compare that to if you were dependent on a public defender. This is because, on average, a public defender devotes 25% less time to a case than is needed for them to do a thorough job. It’s difficult to get in touch with the attorney that the court-appointed for you apart from the day of the trial. This is because they often have a long list of clients to work for and so they can only devote so much time to each individual. Things are different when you hire your own attorney as they will devote as much time as is necessary to hear you out and come up with a winning strategy for you.

2. Your Case May Progress Faster

As mentioned, a private attorney will devote more time to you and they can therefore hasten your case. This is possible to accomplish due to the fact that finishing with your case and winning it is in their best interests as well because this will help them grow their career. They will be motivated to put in the work to wrap your case up and get into your good books as this can help them get more clients in the future. When your case ends faster, you have more time to get your life back on track and proceed with the case behind you.

3. A Good Lawyer Will Help You Stay Informed

Working with a good lawyer will see to it that you have access to information that may be beneficial to you, including explaining difficult terms to you. This is because they will spend time with you and communicate whenever there’s an issue that needs your attention. In this way, you will have a legal partner who is just as invested in getting good results as you are. If your case involves a slip and fall, which is the main cause of workers’ compensation claims, according to the National Floor Safety Institute, it’s important to find an attorney with experience in such cases. Slip and falls are also the leading cause of occupational injury for people aged 55 years and over.

4. You May Not Know How Prepared the Other Party Is

Another important reason why you should be ready to pay the fees of a competent lawyer is that you have no idea how much preparation the other party has made. Rather than go in with a lawyer whose communication skills are poor and who has no experience just to face the best attorney in town, you’re better safe than sorry. Look around for a good lawyer and negotiate the fees you pay them so that you have the confidence that you’re well backed on the legal front. You will get your money back when you win the case in record time.

5. You Can Access Payouts Faster

Finally, as mentioned, working with a good lawyer can help you move your case along faster to a successful finale. This means that you can get money from the case and pay your lawyer their fees if you had made this agreement. If you had taken out a loan, a hard money loan which can typically be paid out in as few as seven to eight days, you will also be able to pay it back faster and potentially pay a lower interest.

These five reasons mentioned above should motivate you to pay the fees that a seasoned lawyer will ask for to ensure you get the best services and results.
