Grandparents: Check out these Personal Finance Blogs for Seniors

Nearly 60 percent of seniors use the Internet and more than half can access it via broadband. Yet finding a good source of information on money management for seniors isn’t easy. Most personal finance blogs center around younger individuals who are raising a family, focused on investing and growth, while working on long-term goals. But what about those of you who have already taken that journey and now seek to make the best of your golden years? With this in mind, we thought a good way to celebrate Grandparent’s Day (which is September 13th, 2015) would be to round up a few blogs that do the best job providing personal finance advice that seniors will find useful.

  • Don’tMessWithTaxes – Written by financial journalist Kay Bell, the blog at Don’tMessWithTaxes.tyepad.com offers two important elements. First, Kay covers a topic important to seniors. Second, her Florida focus serves a large population of seniors and issues that matter to them.
  • AARP Money – Probably the most well known source of information for seniors and grandparents, members.AARP.org/money covers topics important to seniors such as living on a fixed budget, consumer protection and deal news.
  • Go60.us.com – A bit flashy but geared towards seniors, Go60 includes a section focused on money that addresses end of life issues, credit for seniors, legal/estate matters and frugal living.
  • TightFistedMiser – Written by a 40-something Kansas City lawyer, TightFistedMiser.com focuses on living a frugal lifestyle, an issue vital to getting by on a fixed income.
  • MyRetirementBlog – MyRetirementBlog.com includes information on all things related to retirement and retired living. It’s just right for seniors approaching retirement and those already retired.
  • TheSmarterWallet – Focused on consumer topics designed to help readers get more for their money, TheSmarterWallet.com can help you make every dollar stretch further.

And of course, you are already reading a personal finance blog that focuses on readers from all walks of life.

If you’re a senior who cares about personal finance, share your favorite personal finance blogs in the comments below!
