Apple Hits Road Bumps in iPhone 6 Plus Production

September 14, 2014 by Kal Kurdi

Apple has hit some troubles with iPhone 6 production
Apple tends to run into trouble with just about every launch, and the highly anticipated release of the iPhone 6 Plus may have already hit its first bump. In what has been claimed as a record number of orders, the demand has stressed the supply. In the United States, Apple’s new iPhones, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, have been available for preorder online since late last week. The 5.5-inch iPhone is now showing a wait time of up to 4 weeks for shipment, but the 4.7-inch iPhone is still scheduled for delivery on September 19th.

Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller was quoted saying, “Response to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has been incredible, with a record number of pre-orders overnight. Pre-orders are currently available online or through the Apple Store App.” So luckily this means you can still purchase your shiny new iDevice, but depending on what version you want, there may be some more waiting you’ll have to do.

This latest manufacturing snafu stems from the scramble Apple’s suppliers are undergoing to get the screens ready, because a key component that had to be redesigned disrupted the production. It is not yet clear whether or not this pothole will curb how many devices hit the market though. Apple hasn’t made any comments regarding issues with their supply chain.

According to some analysts, this latest release of devices could possibly shift the market back into Apple’s favour. They go on to explain that now with a broader range of products, ranging from 3.5″ to 5.5″ screens, it should help them to gain part of the market that has been captivated by Samsung’s latest line of smartphones.

They also note that the market in China will be crucial in Apple’s continued success. The largest smartphone market in the world, the Chinese, still have no idea when Apple intends on releasing the new devices. The demand could raise the price of the new phones well above $1,500 in Hong Kong.

While it’s hard to say just how many phones Apple might sell in the next few years, one thing is certainly clear. Apple’s new line-up will pay out nicely to its investors in the coming months.
