AstraZeneca is a global biopharmaceutical company that specializes in innovative medicines. It also provided specialized treatment in the areas of oncology, respiratory and immunology, Cardiovascular and Metabolic diseases, neuroscience, and infectious disease.
It offers 100’s of medicines to consumers for the treatment, of related illnesses. AstraZeneca has several assistance programs to help with the treatment of complex diseases such as the AstraZeneca Patient Assistance program that drives down the cost of prescription medications.
Investigational Medicine Trials
AstraZeneca offers early access to its investigational medicine products for patients with advanced illness, where other medications have failed. AstraZeneca offers a Multiple Patient Early Access Program (MPEAP) and an Individual Name Patient Supply (NPS). The MPEAP program is for patients under a specific treatment protocol, while the NPS is for a single patient.
Eligible patients for the program include those with a serious, life-threatening illness that have exhausted all other treatment options. The patient must also be receiving treatment in an area AstraZeneca is pursuing marketing approval. For a list of eligibility requirements and how to request approval into the investigative medicine programs click here. If you do not meet the requirements but like the idea of clinical trials, you can find them here.
AstraZeneca Patient Assistance Programs
Another AstraZeneca patient assistance program is the AZ&Me Perscritpiton savings program. The program is specifically for uninsured patients and Medicare recipients. The cost for patients is zero and they can enroll for one year in the program. After one year patients can reapply for the program.
The main benefit of enrolling is that the patient receives the medications at home or the physician’s office at no cost to them. The program covers 26 medicines including Brilinta, Faslodex, and Onglyza. A complete list is posted to the site.
Eligibility to the program is determined by what medications you require, whether or not you have private insurance, and your income level. You can find out if you are eligible here. If you are eligible for the program you must go through the registration process. Take a look at the application checklist before submitting your completed application.
Co-Pay Savings Program
Another AstraZeneca patient assistance program is the co-pay program. There is one for primary care products and specialty care products. You must go to the AZhelps website to find out specific savings offers under the primary care products program. Once on the site, choose the medication you are looking for. Once selected, hit the savings offer button and it will take you to your co-pay card and offer.
Under the specialty care product program, you will have to visit this site. If you meet eligibility requirements, you have to request submission into the savings program. You can do so by calling AstraZeneca Access 360TM at 1-844-275-2360. Once accepted, they will set you up an AstraZeneca patient assistance program account.
You get your out-of-pocket cost and the pharmacy or healthcare provider submits a claim to the patient assistance program to cover the balance. You can find more information on this specific program on the AstraZeneca specialty savings website.
