Also, consider how much cool charity you could give and how nicely you could set up your heirs.

it's a hcola thing. It seems to cost a lot to live on the coasts And going on the 4% rule that means it's $400k before taxes. Which surprisingly is a lot less than you think it sounds like. between income taxes, property taxes, irmaa it gets cut fast.
