How did you manage to give it away? Who took it? I’ve seen so many horror stories of people stuck with time shares. They can’t be donated to charity. They can’t be sold even for $1. Nobody wants them.

    * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
    * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?

I donated it to a company. It took a long time to find one to take it off my hands.

A high school classmate on facebook has a timeshare and she does not know how to get rid of it so she said she will let her son inherit it when she dies. Seems cruel to me.

With the exception of Disney Vacation Club, timeshares are worse than worthless because they cost you money year after year and there’s essentially no way out. Even if you’re “smart” and buy them on the resale market for a fraction of the original price, you’re still stuck with it in perpetuity. It’s got to be one of the most predatory businesses in existence.

tell her to get rid of it by finding somewhere to donate it.

Good luck with that. Most charities won’t take them for the same reason nobody else wants them. There’s an ongoing annual cost and they’re impossible to get rid of.

On eBay no one is bidding on this timeshare and Princville, Kauai is a luxurious resort and location. An uncle once worked there until he passed away, rip.

I think it'd be cruel to include the timeshare in a will. Hopefully her heir declines to accept ownership via renunciation of property.

What happens if you just refuse to pay? Sure they might tack on fees and charges. Don't pay those either!

Does it wreck your credit? Do they put a lean on you?

Give it to who? Giving it away requires finding a sucker willing to take it from you. That’s pretty much impossible.

It’s just like defaulting on anything else I imagine.

Thankfully, so far all of my regretful purchases have been small ticket, and I haven't had any of those for a long time.

I really had to think on this one. We haven’t regretted a single major purchase. We know what we like and what is worth it to us!

Truthfully the only thing I think I truly regret was my first tattoo. One day I’ll work up the courage to get that one removed!

I tried to google search what happens if you refuse to pay and and the first few pages of responses are all about "timeshare exit". That there's a whole industry based on trying to get people out of timeshare contracts speaks for itself.
