  • Tai Lopez At It Again

    Hi All,

Came across this today and wanted to share it on the forums.

Evidently notorious huckster and marketer Tai Lopez is at it again.

Now he's offering 20% preferred dividends if you invest $300,000 with him.

Its just so abundantly obvious that his guy is questionable. The only thing is nobody has really been able to prove he is guilty of outright fraud. I feel sorry for anyone who does invest with him, they're likely to lose money.

He's done super well with his marketing, but I get the impression that he isn't actually providing anyone that much value.

Here is a pretty good overview of his business activities to date:

    Who Is Tai Lopez?

And here is a classic review of his paid materials. I don't think stronger condemnation is available in the English language.

    Source: Reddit.

The general public would be will advised to steer clear of the guy - he's bad news.

Most of these Internet "influencers" are scam artists.
A few of them have decent ideas and advice, but I wouldn't be giving them any of my money

I just think Lopez is a particularly notorious one. His marketing is world class, but what he sells actually provides no value to most of his customers. This, to me, is the essence of cheating.

        Who? lol

Like I'm going to give some dude on facebook $300k. Do people really fall for this stuff?
        History will judge the complicit.

You'll get a 20% return... but that isn't guaranteed. Of course, what you'll actually get is probably a 4% return, maybe even less depending on what fees they charge for the privilege of investing with them.

Yes. Yes, they do. Lopez has excellent marketing.

Yes. Most people are not very bright. They're attracted by wild claims and flashy ads. Even folks with substantial portfolios get suckered by these things clearly. Look at Bernie Madoff.

Influencers wouldn't make so much if they didn't generate huge returns for companies

You know...his marketing is really first rate. And the tragic thing is that Lopez would not have to sell garbage. He could sell a really great product instead, but he chooses to sell products that make his customers feel cheated.

I couldn’t help it, so I checked this clown out.

Even if I had a trained psychologist explain it to me, I would never understand how someone successful enough to amass those type of assets could fall for his line of crap, unless they inherited it.

Scams like this unfortunately attract a lot of elderly folks and widows. Husband was the wage earner, wife was a homemaker. Husband dies leaving all the money to the wife who knows nothing about finances and she goes looking for help and finds programs like this.

And I don't mean to be sexist but traditionally that was how it worked. For my mom's generation, exactly who would be targeted here, almost no women had careers and the husbands managed the money.

Brand he owns; Radio Shack, Pier 1, Stein Mart, Ralph & Russo, etc. He started out with night clubs. Another guy that I follow on Youtube paid Tai $25,000 for a mentorship program and swears by it saying it was worth it. For that kind of money you could get a college degree.

Love him or hate him, check out his book selections. "How to get rich," "Pitch anything," "How not to be wrong." I may follow some of his book recommendations.

Perhaps, but I'd caution you that you typically become shaped but the people & influences that you surround yourself with.... I'd personally avoid the influence of a guy who appears to be, in effect, a grifter if not con-man.

QMM - I agree with Kork here. Lopez has a track record of disappointing his customers. His marketing models might have some utility, but I'd take his work with several very large grains of salt.
