I am waiting for Costco to get their 'lift-top' coffee table back in stock - that is my big purchase for the year (does that sound like I am a bachelor? Yes, it sounds like I am a bachelor).

Going back to japan for vacation and increasing my whiskey collection again. The last time I was there, I lucked out and found two of these series bottles for ~$80 buried in the back of the top shelf of a mom and pop liquor store.
These are zodiac ceramic bottles, each animal is released once every 12 years. The design changes every 12 years, and it's a very limited release in Japan only.
Your destination for exceptional Japanese whiskies, spirits, and casks, all transported directly to your home from the land of the rising sun.
I currently have 3 of these, rabbit, rooster, and monkey.Last edited by ~bs; 01-24-2017, 10:53 AM.

Honestly, if I really wanted to have the entire collection of 12 bottles for the past 12 years, I could have it NOW, but I'd end up paying $300-400 per bottle, at the least. I like collecting (and drinking) rarer whiskeys, but do not like overpaying for them. I think part of the reason why I have no problem with collecting the whiskeys is that I know the market value is much higher than what I'm currently paying, so could liquidate the collection if I needed to.

Another 2 or 3 weeks and it will be all finished and coming in well under budget. We were figuring around 50 or 60k and now we're looking at no more than 35k which is making me really happyretired in 2009 at the age of 39 with less than 300K total net worth

I have financial issues like crazy, so I don't know if I belong on this thread, but heck with it.
My ex-husband lives in Arkansas and I live in Minnesota. A couple times a year, we meet up at my mom's house in Missouri to trade our son off for visits.
I splurge a little bit on these trips. I usually make a stop at a Sonic for lunch. I also take little detours through tiny towns. I-35 is fastest and most economical, but it's drudgery after many, many trips. My mom and I go to Starbuck's together in the morning before I head back home. I also try to find a locally owned coffee shopsomewhere on the way home. These are kind of like my mini road trip vacations and are by far my favorites expenses.
Oh, I'm also going to look into buying a mitre saw. I'll be trying my hand at framing my husband's paintings in the hopes they will sell better. There may or may not be a return on that investment.
If any of you are planning to spend money on art this year, maybe you'll end up with one of his (beautifully framed) pieces!

My initial response would be traveling, but that may not be the case this year. But also did the bulk of my spending last year with kitchen remodel.
Just did my counter tops/sink install last week. All that's left is doing the back splash (500) and building kitchen island (400-600).
Depending on tax refund, I'm hoping to complete my AR-15 build (another 800-1000)."I'd buy that for a dollar!"

For me 2017 is all about my blog. I started it 2 January 2017 and my huge goal is to pay income taxes on it for 2017. I’m going to take most of what I make and use it to get more training and traffic. If all goes well, 2018 is when I have extra money to spend.
The funny thing is, I’m looking forward to the very little things. I want to not feel guilty eating half a container of Daisy cottage cheese with my lunch. I want to not feel so disgruntled when the cashier charges me for apples twice. That is when I will feel rich.
The other big goals are to pay off our house (3 years left at our current rate!), put more into retirement, and have college money to loan family.
