What SHOULD be is nice but what matters is what IS. Yes, people get paid millions to throw a ball. Whether that SHOULD be is a nice debate, but it IS. And, in reality they are truly the best at that skill and in the scheme of things there are very few people at their skill level so society has determined the WORTH of that. And, the worth of a child care worker in DOLLARS doesnt' rise to the same level. However, doesnt' mean their value to society is less, they just are not going to get the same monetary compensation.
As fore everyone going to free college or trade school, i don't think is desirable or necessary. Not everyone wants to go to college. And, i would like to see a return to OTJ training and apprenticeships rather than going to college to take courses in Lady Gaga.
