    Value of my accounts as of this morning:

    $254,505.21

    As a point of reference I'm 35 and earn around 62K a year.

            Congrats! A very nice milestone to hit for sure.

            Thanks to the magic of compounding, it gets easier from here and the 500K mark will come much faster.

                    Thank you everyone!

                    To answer the question about pretax versus after tax dollars, about $81K is my 401K. The rest is made up of my Roth and my taxable brokerage account and my general savings accounts.

                              I've been working since I turned 16. But, I didn't work full time until after I graduated college when I was 22. I started saving around that time, but I was only saving in the form of cash. The only investing that I did was through my company's 401K program. I didn't get really serious about the investing side of the equation until around 2006. That is when I opened up a taxable brokerage account and a Roth IRA.
