  • Twtter Rebrands to "X"

Elon Musk rebrands Twitter to 'X,' replaces iconic bird logo (cnbc.com)

I'm not on Twitter, so I don't know much about the platform.
I can't say if this rebranding will be good or bad in the long run.

So far, not a single thing Musk has done with Twitter has been a good thing. I think he’s trying to destroy it to get a huge tax write off.

The latest thing pissing off Twitter users is limiting how many direct messages you can send each day. If you don’t pay to get that blue check mark on your account there’s now a DM limit.

I've never been a Twitter user but my husband is. He says it's really gone downhill with the lack of moderation, and the knee-jerk moves by the Twit in Chief have caused a lot of abandonment and backlash. Facebook has been a dying flame for a while, and I think Twitter (X) is next.

Instead of Tweeting, do people "X" it now? lol

Great question. Only time will tell. Threads is new but I've already seen a number of people I follow on Twitter post their Threads links. I haven't opened an account yet but I probably should.

I would like everyone on the forums here to know that I could care less about Threads.

Zuckerberg needs to stop chasing new shiny things and focus on client and user experience in his core Facebook business.

I don't necessarily agree. As a business person, he needs to focus his attention on what makes the most sense for his business. Facebook isn't the "hot" thing anymore. It's not where younger people are - it's where their parents and grandparents are. My 27-year-old daughter does very little on Facebook but is very active on Twitter and Instagram. TikTok is another big one. Facebook isn't drawing in the younger demographic so it makes sense for Meta to do something to appeal to that group.

I think Threads could have the better approach compared to Twitter/X, but social media is saturated in general. I predict the outcome to be further fragmentation, Thread being yet another service. X's user base will never be what it once was at Twitter before Musk's takeover, Threads has been collecting some new users and a lot of refugees.

I'm certain that Facebook is struggling. The younger generations-- I say young, but the generation with which it noticeably fell out of popularity it is 20-25 years old now, and the kids before them definitely aren't using it. I think even Twitter is seeing drying-up of new, young users. I've also noticed TikTok is huge with teens and 20's.

I feel so out of the loop. I don't do TikTok, Twitter, Threads, Telegram, Instagram, WeChat. I had to temporarily install WhatsApp because my parents wanted to use it to communicate with me and the family at home while they were in Europe. Mind = blown.

whatsapp and instagram are owned by meta. Zuck needs to change with the times and chase trends or Meta will be lost forever.

AWS is still the leading cloud but everyone else is eating away. Amazon profits might soon be less as aws fails to provide it's profit.

                      Don't forget Tom!!

MySpace was a big thing once but people migrated to Facebook. Does Facebook do better to focus on exactly what they are, or do they need to grow and change with society? I've never used Twitter, and I have no intentions of signing up for Threads.

Personally I think Elon has ** money and is devoted to burning Twitter to the ground. But then again we will see in a couple years (I was going to say 5, but I don't think it will take nearly that long).
