Sorry if this has already been posted, but I found this article interesting because the lotto winners were mostly already of a financially sound mind in that they had an emergency fund, no debt, contributed to retirement, and were living frugally BEFORE the lotto happened.

LOLing at all the commenters who are like "quit your job so someone else can have it". Everyone has an opinion I guess -- just wish you'd see more people ridiculing those who are living above their means rather than those who are being smart with their money.

Good for them. 1M would def be a nice boost toward a comfy future at that age.

Wrong. Winning a million dollars IS life changing. That is true even today where $1 million does not go as far as it used to.

Perhaps you mean that a million dollars is too little to be "set for life" or "retire in your twenties" or something like that. True, $1 million will not make you rich enough for all that. But still, be realistic. Your life would be very different with another mil.

not really. It would allow me to contemplate retiring a tiny bit earlier, but change? Nope. I would just stick it in an investment account and pretend it doesn't exist. Then keep saving and living on the salary and be boring.
