  • I think because people are so lazy and keep money with them. The only way they would ever become competitive again is if people wake up and switch the highest offering.

Not really sure what you mean by this. Care to explain?

GMAC Bank is offering a good rate at the moment. I have also used Virtual Bank.

                • Okay does anybody else actually think ING is still the greatest online bank since there are by far much better banks, I personally prefer Emigrant Direct. Has time changed anyone else's opinion on ING?

                  • I love my ING account. It's so easy to use....that HSBC was a hassle. I also have the ING checking account and I love it! I can tranfer money back and forth immediately and checking account earns interest so that's a bonus.

I love that it's paperless. To hell with checks I say!

                    • I don't know that I would call HSBC a hassle. They are as slow as molasses, though. FNBO is slow also.

                      • I just closed my ED savings account andmy ING account is lying dormant until they get some truly competive rate. Suprisingly, the local HSBC and Citibank branches offer savings account rates better than both online banks. I'd rather drive to the bank(s) in person and make a deposit at the ATM machine which is credited instanly to my account(s) than to wait for three days before I see a deposit credit. In other words, I've given up with online savings entirely.
