Here, credit unions belong to a network so you can access your accounts in other areas. Those thinking of joining a credit union, but are worried about broader access might ask about this feature. I've never used it--didn't know it existed until hurricane rita.

Dont know whos fault this is but my MIL just had issues with them. She has been a customer for years, and her account was fine untill the merger. Now she ha weird withdrawl issues. She finally got in touch with the fraud department and they told her someone in Russia was using her card and pin. Scary huh!?!!!

I've not had any experience with BOA, but these kind of posts are downright scary!

I finally convinced my dh that we no longer needed to be loyal to a bank that was not customer service oriented! We've had our checking account at this one bank for over 16 years and when I asked about free checking since dh turned 60, they laughed at me. Went across the street to another bank and they said, "Hey, he's 60, great, here's free checking, free checks, and btw, we also offer a free safety deposit box." We've been moving CD's to banks that pay better interest as well.

Anyone who's into betting for laughs:

I closed my account and safe deposit box rental of ten years December 22, 2006 at Bank of America, or so I thought.
God's honest witness, since then I have had only a reminder that my rental fee would be debited from my account January 22, 2007.

          Who'd like to bet that:
          - I get a NSF fee notice for the safe deposit box rental I closed out and signed papers with my husband for the purpose of closing
          - I will need to return to the bank to close out my account.

My spouse had to close one account three times over four months. Each month he'd be getting a fee for having a zero balance. It was frustrating for us because it's not like we as accountholders know the internal procedures at BoA for closing accounts, and we trusted the staff to complete processing.

when I moved I tried desperately to join a local bank or credit union no matter where i joined I had weird fees, that were always mistakes

sterling silver bank charges my kids 3 dollars a month for their savings accounts!!so every month I had to call and get them reversed

on point credit union charged my 3 bucks a month unknown address fee which they conveniently sent to my address!!!!

I finally gave up my credit union is about 300 miles away and is actually quit convenient I direct deposit, bank online and by mail .

I'm thinking of opening a 25K CD with BOA so I can get free online equity trades.

One man's medicine is another man's poison. I guess they are only as good as they treat folks!

I do my online trading with BOA and have no problems at all. I was a Fleet customer and BOA bought them out.

This is so Bank of America. I wouldn't expect it from any other bank.
