Well, I'm an American citizen, and I've voted (absentee ballot) ... So I'd pretty much say that I'm betting the farm on the outcome.

For now, I'm only hoping for a clear winner, and that all of the over-politicized lunatics stay in line. Long term, a calming political influence for the country would sure be nice....

We voted weeks ago. We vote by mail as we’ve done for the past 25 years.

I never voted and probably never will. I'm ok with either party winning. Those elected officials are not self serving and have the Americans peoples best interest in mind. Hard to argue that

As for betting money on the outcome, no thanks. Apparently you can actually put money down on who will win for the first time ever.

Mailed in my ballot last week. In the 2020 presidential election I had bet $700 and lost. No more betting in 2024 for me.

I voted last week (as did DW and our kids). And as much as I'd like the contest to be concluded on Nov 5th, we'll likely have to buckle up. Pretty high likelihood the next couple months will be fairly chaotic.

I actually almost didn't get my vote sent in on time. I kept expecting my absentee ballot to show up in the mail like they have for the last few years. But by the end of October, I had basically given up how that it would appear. But I did receive a voting info flyer from the state, which pointed out that we could fill out an absentee ballot form online, download the completed ballot (plus verification/security/envelope template), and mail it all in by election day -- news to me, but it's a great option to make available & it worked smoothly. I dropped it by the post office & they slapped an express mail sticker on it & off it went.

My only confusion is why didn't the normal absentee ballot show up automatically? I've gotten other ballots here, I think for both last Fall's county elections, and a special election earlier this year. It's a head scratcher...

I've voted early for quite some time now.
No wait, short lines, and no politicians glad handing you.

Even easier when you vote by mail as we do. No line at all.

I've only actually voted in person once. It's was a weird experience after otherwise only ever voting by mail-in absentee ballot. I strongly prefer by mail. As Steve said, zero lines & I don't have to interact with poll workers too-big for their britches .... Give some people an ounce of authority....

We first started voting by mail 25 years ago when our daughter started school. In NJ, the first week of November schools are closed on Tuesday for election day and on Thursday and Friday for the NJ education association conference for teachers. Some districts close the entire week. So everyone goes to Disney World. It's actually known as Disney Week down there.

Back then, you had to apply for an absentee ballot and verify that you would be out of state, but ever since then, we've voted by mail. I believe anyone can now. There's no requirement that you be away. Especially when I was still working full time, it made the difference between me voting and not voting if I had a 12-hour shift that day. Now that I'm retired, I still see no point in wasting my time going to a physical polling place and standing in line, even a short one.

I will not, however, put our completed ballots in a mailbox. Actually I won't put anything in a mailbox. We always hand deliver them to the post office and have the clerk stamp them right away. Either that or a couple of times we did use one of the official secure ballot boxes. There's one just a couple of miles from us. We used that during COVID.

I have no money on the election.

I figured this thread wouldn’t last long before it devolved into politics.

I've deleted most replies, including some of my own, as they strayed too far from the question.
