One truck replaces dozens of personal vehicles driving around to buy those things.
I saw an explaination about how prime shipping is extremely wasteful vs opting for the movie credit and have it shipped slowly. When 2 day or 1 day shipping is involved, their organization of products going to similar places decreases therefore increasing emissions.

Also when people go to Target, they have a list usually and grab what they need. Also not everyone have the luxury of going yo the store daily so people tend to accumulate what they need from one trip.

Amazon changes all that and with instant gratification of receiving it over a few hours, people just click away.

Most Amazon orders are now delievered by Uber like drivers who doesn't carry that many packages vs a UPS truck.

And they usually grab a bunch of stuff they didn't need too, which is part of why Prime actually saves us money, in addition to the lower prices to begin with.

That might be true in some areas. It certainly isn't around here. Our packages all come by either UPS or USPS. I've never seen a private driver deliver to us.

In Los Angeles Amazon uses OnTrac as the delivery service.

Amazon has had their own delivery vans for about a year now around here, but I am within a few miles of 4 distrubution centers and a warehouse, so I guess Amazon is a big deal out here.

Where we are there is a ton of people delivering packages in their own cars. Lots of small deliveries. No USPS unless it's to the box. Very rare.

I personally hate shopping at amazon. I don't like the returns. Most people think it's free but if you look at your return prices many times it's taken off when you want to return something even if you do the amazon locker.

But heck who actually looks at their return receipt? Maybe people on here but most don't. And I KNOW for a fact this is true about the pricing because they gotta pay for shipping returns somehow. I have talked to people who work on it and yep, amazon isn't good for anything consider returning. Amazon also counts on most people not bothering to look at what it cost to return something but instead they just print the invoice and mailer, stick it on the envelope then wham there is the $3 for return or something.

            Meh.

I rarely buy anything that I expect to return. The times that I have, I've made sure they had free returns on that item and sending it back was no problem at all.

The only time I had to pay to return something was due to my own stupidity. I purchased an item without checking the specs and it turned out to be much larger than I thought and it wouldn't fit where I needed it to.

Me, I don't have Prime. Since one of my brothers has it and won't share, I've been considering getting it. I think it would be worth it even now; I order quite a few things from Amazon (tho my rules with that are; if it's a game/book I have to really want to play it; Anything I want to buy goes on the wish list for a cooling off period before I actually buy it; and I save gift cards from Perk/Bing/Swagbucks for my Amazon habit. Also, I will only instant buy something if it's a emergency.)

I figure I got it under control that way even without free shipping. ^^

Amazon is great for that. Drop something in your cart and come back later and decide if you still want it.

Blah, I don't use the wish list because I've found when I come back to buy it the price has went up....same if I'm just browsing thru things then decide to buy later, I notice a price increase. I try to remember to go incognito to just window shop, two can play at that game

Returns are mostly free now unless you purchased from a third party. You used to have to pay for return shipping unless the item is not as described. Now any reason will yield you a free shipping label back. My wife loves the return feature and she's pretty ridiculous with it. Sometimes she would just buy something just to see if it's the right color....

I'm a Prime member and not thrilled with the increase but will probably keep it for now. I went with prime for the streaming video, music, and prime reading. The expedited shipping is a great bonus.

I guess i always use the returns that cost money because it was the cheapest instead of free returns.

                            YMMV.
is this included in Prime? I'm gonna shoot myself if it is and I haven't been using it all these years, lol

FLA, as far as I know, Prime Reading is a limited, separate program from Kindle Unlimited. Here is all the stuff that is included free with Prime membership. However, if you want true unlimited access, you have to sign up for Kindle Unlimited separately.
