You saved for what was your biggest disappointment?

1) High performance car parts in the 1980's (ie, $500 Webber carbs, $500 gears, rims/tires, nitrous oxide kit $1000, etc)
2) investing in WAMU $5000 went bankrupt, penny stocks bankrupt $1000's, etc.
3) fake .999 silver American eagles but eBay refunded the full $150 purchase price.
4) my mind is drawing a blank but I'll think of more later.

Probably our first house. 23 years old. The rest of my friends were partying and living like kids in their 20's, and my partner and I bought a fixer-upper. Biggest disappointment ever, but, we lived through it, and grew stronger because of it.
