I did just a little in the computer room tonight. I found 2 discs (one MP3 and one computer CD-ROM) that I’m going to list on eBay. I got rid of one of three index card file boxes. We don’t need at least one of the other two but I want to check with DW and DD. I got rid of an old shaving mug and razor not worth selling.

Not much but it all helps and I only did that stuff as I was finishing up in there for the night.

Yesterday, in the process of storing winter accessories (gloves, hats, scarves) and pulling out the sun hats, I went through DH's extensive hat/cap collection with him and he got rid of 7! Woohoo! He was the guy who used to never get rid of anything. Now, if it's worn out or badly stained, he'll usually let it go.

I forgot I got rid of a couple of shirts the other night from my closet.

My taxes are close to being complete and ready for filing. [Fingers crossed] My household's plans are the following: 1) pay off the credit card we charged the gutters to - ca. $2000, 2) home repairs, 3) pay off part of a medical bill.

Sounds good, but I think you accidentally posted this to the wrong thread.

I haven't remembered to post here but we continue to make progress. Cleaning the house for Passover is helping. The room where we host dinner is my wife's sewing/craft room so she's had to clean up all of her stuff. In the process, we bought a new storage unit for yarn. She put some of the old drawers into her closet to better organize things in there. She also got rid of a bunch of yard that she was never going to use. I sold one extra sewing machine on Facebook and have another listed. I got rid of several more Disney items (that's also the room where the bulk of our collection is displayed). A few days ago I spent a brief time in the garage and cleared out some boxes and trash from there. After Passover, I will devote a couple of full days to working in there now that nicer weather is here.

We had major flooding the other day here in the Pittsburgh area. My basement got some water, so we spent the weekend taking everything out and sorting through it in the driveway. I ended up with an entire pick up truck load of stuff to take to the dumpster.

Mother Nature forced me to do some much needed Spring cleaning.

Luckly, there was no major damage.

I went in the basement today and filled a large shopping bag with items for our next yard sale.

My plan is to have an “everything is $1.00” sale sometime soon.

I had tossed a George Foreman grill last year along with all grill plates that came with it.

Then about a month ago I came across the scrapper utensils that came with it. I ignored them at the time. I saw them again yesterday while looking for something and I thought of your thread and said, nope they got to go!

Love it. It’s such a common occurrence. Sometimes we have stuff in the house and don’t even know what it is or why we have it.

A few weeks ago my daughter was cleaning her room. She found a power supply cord and had no idea what it belonged to. She realized it had to have been there for a least a couple of years and if she hasn’t needed it in all that time, she could toss it. In the rare event that she later finds what it belonged to, you can always replace that stuff easily in eBay or Amazon.

When I was collecting stuff in the basement, I found a bag with 10 small cast iron bars. I have absolutely no idea what they’re from or why I have them. Some internet research revealed that they are probably from ankle weights with removable weight bars, except we don’t have anything like that. Out they went.

After selling a car last week it occurred to me I can now dispose of a giant box of spare parts for it in the garage. The new owner wasn't interested in them. I've posted a few of them up on a forum, but if they don't go in a week or so, they're gone with the rest of the box! It's been nice having the space in my shop back too, where the car was parked.

Same here. I made a lot of progress in the garage last year. It's time to dig deeper now that the weather has broken. I'm actually planning to start in there on Monday if it's not raining. I need it to be clear outside so I can pull stuff out onto the driveway to go through everything and rearrange what goes back in. There's not enough free space to just work entirely in the garage. Last year I had actually considered renting a POD for that purpose, until I discovered how expensive renting a POD is.

I spent a couple of hours in the garage this morning. I couldn't do more because I need to take my mom to an appointment soon but I still managed to accomplish a lot. I decided against having a yard sale because it's just too much effort for too little reward. Instead, I put out a FREE table this morning and advertised it several places online. I added stuff to it as I came across things. So far, two people have come by and taken a number of items. I'll leave it out until this afternoon and then I'll either pack up what remains for Goodwill or maybe I'll plan to do it again but on a weekend when more people are around.

One goal today was to work on consolidating where I have shipping boxes as they were in 6 different places in the garage. I didn't succeed in getting them all together yet but I did make progress and have it down to 4 spots instead of 6. Quite a few boxes that weren't in good shape or were otherwise things I'll never use got broken down and recycled. A bunch of saved packing materials that I won't use got trashed.

Definitely some good progress in just a couple of hours.

I was doing some work at my desk last night and opened the one file drawer. I realized I had a pretty thick file of things related to my job. Since my last day is just 3 weeks away, I figured it was time to clean that out. There was a copy of each of my contracts for the past 8 years. I kept the current one and tossed the rest. There were various things related to PTO policy, benefits, and more that I simply don't need and were all outdated anyway so those went out along with a few other assorted papers. All that remains is my current contract, recent paystubs, and a couple of other things. That opened up a nice amount of space in that drawer.
