Santa can’t afford it?

No to telling about santa. But seriously you can scale back expectations. I tell my kids sure ask santa but sometimes it won't happen. They wrote letters. And we'll see what is showing up.

We limited our Santa Claus gifts to what would fit in a stocking. It might be wise to adopt that. If it doesn't fit in a stocking, Santa can't bring it. That way a few things like toy cars or pretty ponies, a coloring book, a box of crayons or markers or colored pencils, a small box of Lego bricks, a Barbie doll, and some candy was about all they expected in the stocking.
