I see. I always thought they collect their money first. So on 7/31/23 when i cancelled my mindset was that I had already paid until Aug 7 which is when they actually charged me, and that's when I thought the new month would start. Ok so I owe them, my bad.

No, they can't charge you in advance for any type of utility service - gas, electric, water, phone, cable - because they don't know what your usage will be. Your utility bills are always for the previous period.Originally posted by QuarterMillionMan View PostI see. I always thought they collect their money first. I'm a little annoyed with T-Mobile right now, also related to billing. On auto-pay using our credit card we'd receive a $25/month discount. The discount is being removed for customers who pay with credit cards (like we do). Instead, you have to provide a debit card or ACH/checking account information. They're trying to avoid some portion of merchant fees on their side.
That's all good, except T-Mobile has had at least 3 data breaches in very recent history and I don't want my ACH information being lost. Fraud protections with our credit card are way better. $25/month is still $25/month, it's more about principle than the cost. Perhaps we'll have to set up a checking account just for some of our services like T-Mobile where access to funds would be extremely limited and just for paying some of those monthly bills.
What a pain!History will judge the complicit.

In that case I’d just add them as a payee for online banking and make the payment manually each month. Not as good as automatic but then you don’t have the data breach issue to worry about.Originally posted by ua_guy View PostI'm a little annoyed with T-Mobile right now, also related to billing. That’s too much work and that’s why I jumped ship to Mint. It’s almost like writing a check and mailing it every month but just a little more convenient.Originally posted by disneysteve View Post

Mint uses credit card. T-Mobile pushed me into a corner with the new ACH policy which I didn't want to abide with so I left. Mint uses T-Mobile's network. Mint's introductory $15 a month for 3 months is equal to T-Mobile's $50 for 1 month so it was easy for me to switch to Mint. I understand that Mint gets the leftover slower data speeds from T-Mobile but when I was on T-Mobile's $50 a month 55 years and over plan the data speeds seemed slow as well. Maybe T-Mobile figures us old foggies don't need their fastest speeds so for a lower price point us old foggies gets the slower speeds, I don't know. After Mint's 3 months introductory price I'll get the $20 a month for 12 months which has to be prepaid at $240 before the 12 months which I'm okay with which is a good deal.

I like Mint's international roaming data plans where increments of $5, $10, or $20 can be added at any time. T-Mobile gave only 5 GB a month w/the $50 plan. Every weekend I go to Mexico. I just returned home today from a day trip to Mexico. Today the pedestrian crossing wait time was 2 hours to return into the USA, but with the Sentri card they have a Sentri line which is like a VIP line and only had 5 people ahead of me. The vehicle crossing looked like 4 hours to 5 hours to return to the USA.

Does nobody use bpay?? thats how we pay most of our bills except our rent that comes directly out of our account...that way no-one is touching our accounts but us...and I have 1 account in a different bank that we use when we order online so if it gets hacked they have no access to any other accounts

But then my plan is so old and good i'm sure that's part of it.
