If people’s families came to this country as slaves they dont know what their ‘cultural homeland’ is because there is no record. Africa is a pretty big place if that is what you are trying to say.

Also what I thought made America special was that we all got a say in what we thought about how the country was run without having to perform acts towards the state. If everyone who didn’t like the current state of government left we would have a very different country — and perhaps one you might have left years ago.

I was not specifying any country in particular. I am part Irish and they were met for years with "No Irish Need Apply". Unless you are full blooded native American, ALL of us in someway or other came here from elsewhere. If we are all mixed up with our nationalities then pick a country that we can respect it and their national anthem and flag and their rules.

In any country you may be in, the adult , respectable, best thing to do is to act respectful of the country's rules of conduct. Even within our country is it a kind thing to be respectful of another group's feelings. I have an old order Mennonite cleaning lady whose sons also mow our lawn. When the one of the boys comes to mow I make sure that I am dressed modestly for his sake, not for me. If you care about people and their feelings, then you take that extra step to avoid offending someone. And if you are a big name somebody that has many people looking up to you, you need to especially careful of your actions and how you may influence people for right or wrong. Obviously just my opinion.

Would you wear a burka or niqab (face covering which only leaves eye slit exposed), and not drive or be seen in public alone, so as to be respectful of your Saudi Arabian neighbor's feelings?

That’s because if you ask the protestors and those that support the protestors, they take the knee in protest to call attention while still showing respect for flag and country. Several of the men participating come from military backgrounds and have voiced strongly this is not anti military.

But if the dialogue is them = blacks, and not them = fellow Americans we aren’t going to go far. That is indeed a big part of what is being protested.

I'm sure the message is not anti military but I believe it is completely reasonable that some would be offended with the manner in which they are choosing to protest. Personally I don't care either way. I look at how one chooses to honor the flag/anthem the same way I view religion. It's really not up to me to say what they are doing is right or wrong, its a personal thing. This whole issue is part and parcel of a bigger issue in this country. The loss of individual thought and the desire to group people into collective thought groups.
