Was that out of state tuition? CSU is only $8K per year today (in-state).

      Zero
By the time I was 17 I was so done with attending school, going to college would have been a waste of my parents money and my time. Probably would have just been a big party.
Went to full time work instead which was a lot more fun and interesting to me.

I think the state colleges were running about $5-7K total annually, for tuition, room & board at the time.
A couple of my siblings went and were able to take care of a lot of the expenses by working full time all summer and part time while in school.

Tuition at a uc was $8500 a year for 1997-2000, I took our $2500/year for 4 years in loans so $10k and my parents covered the rest. Graduate school stipend started in 2002 at $20k to 2010 and went up to $26k, no tuition. took out loans for living expenses federal subsidized loans at $8500/year for 3 years. DH couldn't get loans but his undergrad was 4 years $2k/year CAD at a university in canada. He had a stipend of $18k in 2000-2005 (it went up a little). He did a part-time mba at a private university 2007-2010 and that was $25k/year if i recall. 50% was covered by work and we took ourt loans and cash flowed the rest. At that time he took out subsizied federal loans at $8500/year. We paid his loans off within 6 months of graduating so June 2010 (he finished 1/2010).

So I borrowed $25,500 and he borrowed $25,500 as well. His we paid off asap and mine I think by 2010 if i'm not mistaken. We also had borrowed for a car in 2000 (him) and in 2010 and 2012 we had two more car loans. So throughout the years we've had debt along the way. Most of it really was school loans.

UC tuition is $14,700, DH's $5320 CAD tuition undergrade. Wow. that's a lot. His MBA program is now $2000 a credit so around $120k. I am almost certain we paid around $80k for it 2006-2010. That's a good amount.

My hope is to pay 100% for the kids in or out of state. I am unsure what will happen. I read Monkey Mama and think I wish we could do that.

Undergrad, I don't really remember the cost. I had a scholarship and my grandmother left me money, so I graduated debt free.
Grad school cost around $45K. I paid off the loans about 12 years after graduating.
