The weight loss drugs are still very expensive, I see. $400-$500 per month. But they are coming down. One would hope that someone making that kind of commitment would put a lot of focus on turning the weight loss into a lifestyle change.History will judge the complicit.

Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, SLP-1's, seems like a powerful drug. My female neighbor in her 20's lost about 1/2 her weight going from 180 lbs down to 90 lbs. I don't know if she is on the drug but it is not normal. Katy Perry's before and after is dramatic. And look at her face now she looks like she aged a lot. Curious to learn of the long term side effects of these new drugs.

You know, I always thought you had to do the work to lose weight. Part of me is suspicious about miracle drugs that let you drop pounds without a lot of effort...its like there is something wrong or some sort of side effect that hasn't been identified yet.james.c.hendrickson@gmail.com

Supposedly these drugs make you lose muscle and fat. Less muscle equals a slower metabolism. If you stop taking these, then you will most likely end up gaining more weight back.
There have also been reports of phycological side effects from these drugs.

Phycological ---> of or pertaining to the study of algae.

For those people who are morbidly obese, the pro's of loosing hundreds of pounds will certainly outweigh the con's of potential side effects.Originally posted by QuarterMillionMan View PostIt comes in pill form now, no longer only by injection. I predict an explosion of people taking it now but at what risk to their health remains to be seen.
For the general public, needing to loose <100 pounds, I believe focusing on life style choices (diet and exercise) are going to be the far better solution. With out developing sustainable habits the weight will be back.
I have a cousin who wanted the stomach band procedure. Her doctor told her she wasn't heavy enough to justify it. So what did she do? She spent 3 months gaining an additional 50 pounds. After the surgery she lost a huge amount of weight. However over the past 5 years she has slowly been putting it back on. Now she is close to where she started.
