Affirmative. Use it nearly every day except in the winter.

.... And this is why they always tell you to not impulsively make large purchases... Glad you came to a decision that makes sense for you!

Ever think of using concrete for a nice patio?

I will probably have to remove my deck next year. And my neighbor made a pretty solid argument to move to completely get rid of the deck and pour a large concrete patio (possibly stamped).

About 1/3 of the upkeep (seal it every few years), cheaper over all than installing a new deck (mines ~550 sq ft), and removes the haven for animals to live/screw with my house.

Squirrels started to break chew on the side of the home directly under the deck. By moving to a concrete patio, I'll remove that coverage for them to mess with my house. Also, I was considering making an addition on the back of the house. While it's a small chance I actually do it, it will get me 1/4 of the way there, as I will (or the next owner) already have the cement slab ready to go for a foundation.

According to the estimates my deck would cost roughly what yours does -10-20% for size difference. So roughly 16-20k for Trex Deck (roughly 16 X 32 + elevated by 4 feet). To get the same pad poured its approximately 9K.

No animals, greater longevity, and expandable possibilities. I always have liked decks, but after he made all of those points, I really am leaning towards pouring the cement instead.

I'm not 100%, but I thought I'd make the same argument to add another option.
