Just for fun - What does your user name mean?

Milly isn't actually my name. It isn't Emily, Amelia, or Camilla either (although eventually we hope to name a baby girl Amelia and call her Milly). Milly is a somewhat random childhood nickname that took on its own persona in College.

One of my friends who knew me as a kid went with me to college introduced me as Milly to a group that later became my core social group and best friends. As a result, that specific group of college friends know me as Milly. For a few years, Milly was like my show name. "Milly" was the confident, leader, funny, clever person that could conquer the world because that is how I felt with those friends.

So when I sign as "Milly" on my blog, that is the powerful version of myself.

Just be careful about how many M girls are in the family. One family I know has Maggie, Mollie, Millie. The 3Ms. Trying to remember which is which you tend to run through each name. Those are actual names, not nicknames like Margaret=Maggie. When I was being told her name the first time I couldn't figure out what proud papa was saying as he pronounced it Meggie. I had to have him spell it and then I told him what he had just named his baby.

I have a lime green Accent, my kids dubbed it the Big Green Booger and it has been called that since 2012. I didn't want that for my name here, lol.

I forgot my sorority had numbers, have no idea what mine was and sororities are now defunct at my alma mater.

Mine has nothing to do with investing, to be honest. It's a name of the character from one of my favorite video games and I blatantly... borrowed it.

My autistic son has a habit for bestowing nicknames on people that he really likes or dislikes. People he is neutral about don't get one. So somewhere along the line he started calling me GaileteBob. I Got rid of the bob part and started using the Gailete as I believe there is no one else named Gailete in the world. At least I haven't run into them so it made it easier to use as a screen name than my real name. of course, he informed me that I spelled it wrong and I should have spelled it Gailette. I'm not that good of speller and he is an excellent speller, but at this point the Gailete with one T sticks.

These are really fun! What a great idea for a thread.

Mine is a name I've been using online since the beginning of time. My name is Anni and I briefly dated a guy whose last name was Belle. One day I realized with a bit of horror that if we got married, my name would be Anni Belle. He thought it was quite funny. That's how annibelle came about, but it's too common, so I replaced the Ls with 1s. And that was before it was cool.

He has never seen my one doctor, but since his step-dad has said how pretty, etc. she is, he calls her the 'Hot doctor'. My GP who just moved out of state and how I miss her, is called 'Nervous Dr. XXXX' as he perceived her to be timid.

These kids have their own way of doing things and that is for sure.

This is adorable! Generalizations and associations are important and nicknames do just that.

I am the oldest of three, grew up in NY and while living in baltimore in the late 90s, during the days of America Online, I came up with KatWillNY. My nickname at work was New York, sister's name Kathleen, brothers name William.
