  • Just for fun - What does your user name mean?

This isn't a financial topic but just for everyone to get to know each other a little, tell us about your user name. I know some have financial meaning, some refer to hobbies or occupations or locations, and some have other meanings.

Mine is fairly clear. I'm a big Disney fan. I've collected Disney memorabilia since the mid 1970s. I've traveled to Walt Disney World more than 30 times since 1978 and will be there again next week. I've belonged to various Disney fan and collector groups over the years and I'm an active participant at disboards.com, a large discussion forum for all things Disney.

How about you? Tell us about your name.
    Steve

97guns , I use 97 because it was the first year of working a corporate job and it was my goal of guns to reach, never quite made it, I think I hit the high 80's before I started selling off. Another handle I've used a lot is hd0642 which is hd for Home Depot and 0642 was the Store number, I've also used a combination of the 2, hd97guns

My name is misleading. I meant it to be my net worth at the time about 5 years ago but I'm guessing people take it to mean my yearly income (I wish it was). However, 5 years later my net worth doubled to half million.

I never thought it was your income. I always figured it was net worth, but I also figured that it wouldn't be accurate for long. Glad to hear it is only half accurate now.

I'm not certain but I believe my screen name is self evident.

I know Husker is a Nebraska term so does that mean you're from Nebraska but live in Texas, or went to school in Nebraska?

When I started at SA, we had just finished paying off credit card debt and had stopped using them entirely. I'm pretty sure we cancelled them all. Thus free of credit cards.

Now, however, we use credit cards for every day spending to accumulate points and miles. I open them up to earn bonus rewards, too. We also pay them in full every time my husband is paid which is twice per month, so we are never charged interest or a rolling balance.

I think free of credit card debt is just as good if not better than free of credit cards. You learned to play the game and win and be responsible with your money. That's the real accomplishment.

I believe it's his initiation number. I was in a sorority but forget mine, but my DH knows his and several of his fraternity brothers numbers.

I just picked a cutesy name for this site, but I am thrifty.

Everyone that has ever joined my fraternity gets a unique number. I am the 584th person to join. It's a common thing for both fraternities and sororities.

Mine originated from the video game "Sin"..back in the days I was talking to this guy about how I uploaded this game to his ftp server and to remind him who I was, I said I am the Sin guy...and then after that I just used Singuy as a gamer tag.

I adopted the nickname "Kork" when I was in middle school, from my mother who went by "Corky" growing up. It's already fairly close to my real first name, but I adjusted it to drop the y, and changed it from C to K, because people always misspell my name with a C instead of my K.

13 is just one of my favorite numbers, along with 7.... Another variant I've used is "7Kork13". I initially came to like 13 ironically, just because it was "unlucky" for everyone else. Over time, it just grew on me.

The other online handles that I'll go by are "Ghost," which is my military callsign, or "Geist" (the German translation, a language I've studied off & on over the years).

Okay, now I'm just having fun... One last pseudonym I use is an anagram for my real name, which I worked out when I went to Survival School. It's particularly useful when someone asks me for my name (whether a website or in person) but I have no desire to tell them my actual name. Because it's a full name (First MI Last) and I always have it readily available, it's an easy deception when necessary. I've also found that, being in the military in a position that occasionally makes me a tangential target of intelligence gathering (less cloak & dagger than you're probably thinking), I've found it prudent to have a name ready to give to suspect individuals. Besides, figuring out my anagram name was fun. (Yes, I know...I'm a nerd.)
