I think our last bonus was our biggest windfall. It was $40,000ish, but by the time taxes and 401k was taken out, it was less than half. Still appreciated, though!

My annual bonus is a windfall now that SA has gotten me out of debt. My salary + pension covers 100% of our expenses + retirement savings. So the bonus + stock has no identified purpose each year. That was $355k this year. After tax, I ended up with $175k. All went into savings. Might pay off the mortgage next year. We'll see.

My biggest windfall came from working for a small company for 5 years and being there when it finally sold. The owner took a portion of the 9-figure sale price and divided it up among all the employees. My share was 6-figures before taxes and maxing out my 401k, and even after those things, it was still the biggest check I've ever received.

If you include a windfall that is on paper. Converting my regular IRA to a Roth and paying the tax paid from 1997-2001 even though it was substantial figure at the time actually has netted me the largest single windfall about 2 times greater than my highest net stock gain in the account.

I once received a check for 1600 from a clinic for overcharging me services. I don't even recall getting services there but I'll take the extra cash.

Not really a windfall but I made 100k when I sold my house that I had only lived in for 5 years.
