I have a question does using cricket or virgin or republic wireless save on taxes on cell phone plans?

We have t mobile 3 lines, 2 tables for $120/month. Our total bill is $168 but that's because my BIL is paying for his phone at $32/month.

But I'm wondering can we beat T-mobile deal? It's the taxes and fees, but if they are the same with any carrier then it doesn't matter I think we're at the best deal.

I have the Virgin Mobile Unlimited Plan that is advertised at $35/month.

I pay 33.45 per month after the $5 discount.

So you can see the extra fees are only $3.45/month. State Sales Tax and an extra dollar or so for the 911 fee.

ETA: though when you have a lot of devices or data needs, sometimes those big plans are better. do the math.

So you are being billed $168 and the your BIL pays 32 of that? That doesn't leave much for taxes. That is just $16.

There are taxes and fees with prepay, but they are not very high. However, you won't find an option that gives you a good solution for tablets. Straight talk does support them, but I find the price per GB isn't very competitive. T-mobile is doing a good job these days overall, so if you have a newer plan I don't know if you can do much better prepaid and get the same thing or even close.

Straight talk will give you unlimited phone/text/5gb lte each for $45 per line, so that is $135 already with no tablets.

I think you are as good as you can get, and Tmobile does a better job with their data with the unlimited streaming and such. I suggest sticking with them.

5 devices for $160ish out the door? YOu better keep that plan. It prob gives you a lot of data too.

The taxes/fees are based on your monthly bill. So you would notice a significant decrease in taxes if you chose a significantly cheaper cell plan.

For reference, we pay $3.54 taxes/regulatory fees on a $60 cell phone bill (Ting).

The tax rate also depends on your location.

on Cricket, for 3 lines, with 3 gb data each, unlimited text/talk we pay $90 total. We were on AT&T and Cricket uses their towers so there have been no outage issues

Cricket has five lines for 100/mo which is what I have + insurance on my s7 is $7.00 so the grand total charged each month is exactly $107.

The reason I dug up this post though was to point out that Cricket "refill" cards go on sale quite often... and we are talking up to ~25% off!

Best Buy offers an Extra 20% Off Cricket Wireless Refill Cards when purchased with a Cricket Wireless SIM Kit. Bundle prices start at $22.59. Select free store pickup where available. Otherwise, S ...

I just recently bought five $70 refill cards for 51.39/ea after taxes w/free shipping!

Oh and the standard plan was bumped to 4GB high speed data included... after that you just get throttled to 2G speeds, which is fine for email, text, and light web surfing.
