They apparently aren't interested in our ancient previous phones... 1st gen Moto X & Samsung S3. They don't even show up in their search.

Oh well, we use them for our kids. One sits on their dresser (permanently charging, else it'll never start up again) for playing audio bedtime audiobooks for the boys. The other is used as a baby monitor & white noise machine for our infant.

Yeah, I've checked sites like that before for our old phones and either they don't want them at all or they're paying pennies for them. We keep our phones until they die. My last phone literally exploded. Over time, the battery expands and it busted the case open. I suspect when I finally break down and replace my current phone, it won't be on the buy list from those places either. It's an iPhone 7 and I think they're on 13 now.

That said, older phone may have value if you sell them on ebay. There are a lot of people into old tech, or, like kork, interested in using them for something other than a phone.

I'm transitioning from an iPhone XR to maybe Galaxy A53 5G or Galaxy S21 or S22. From reading another thread which I cannot locate so putting it here, I learned from another poster not to "trade in" which they'll pull a bait and switch by giving a higher trade in value but later low balling once the transaction is done. When I do sell my iPhone I'll probably sell it on eBay and not a website such as this which also might pull a bait & switch with a similar scheme.

Let us know how it goes. Ebay is seems to have better transaction fees than Amazon

We try to get rid of anything that has a lithium battery in it that we don't use anymore like old cell phones, laptops. Lithium batteries can have issues where they swell, leak, or in rare instances, can catch on fire. I had never seen it happen before until my dad asked me to look at an old laptop he keeps around for using in the garage. "It's growing!" he said. Sure enough. It was a 2011 MacBook air, and the battery had ballooned so forcefully it bent the entire aluminum chassis of the laptop and the lid would no longer close.

Even if you can't find a service to sell your old devices, an electronics recycler will generally take them for free (Bestbuy has a convenient program).
            History will judge the complicit.

I had to replace my last phone because the battery swelled and broke open the casing. It still worked fine but was falling apart.

With the new iPhone 14 coming out soon, I will probably sell my Galaxy S22 plus which I'm hating because it is very unreliable. Freezes often, needs constant reboots, etc. For instance when stopping a Youtube video, the small black screen remains when I transition to another website and needs a reboot to get rid of it. Or alert notifications remains at 5 new emails long after I delete those 5 emails. Many numerous weird things w/Samsung. Very unreliable. Apple works reliably everytime. I've never been so frustrated. However, iPhone 14 says it only supports eSim. Crickett wireless which I'm currently with does not support eSim. Apple support list cell service providers with eSim support. There is always something, just venting, lol.

Find wireless carriers that offer eSIM service - Apple Support

Why not get a used iphone? Why pay top dollar for the latest new model?

I rather pay full price for a new iPhone rather than taking a chance with a used one. And I thought I could take on Apple but it was foolish of me to try. Apple won the battle. I throw in the towel, lol.

I've had the S22 Ultra (not plus) for about 6 months now and I've not had any issues with it at all.

Assuming there isn't a hardware defect, I'd be tempted to suggest you do a full factory reset of the phone.

Yes I tried that numerous times as well. My processor is Exynos, I think your's is Snapdragon. The Exynos must be very slow compared to Snapdragon. Some other specific issues I encounter consistently. Some apps have a hard time opening so I have to reboot then it opens. Or I'll delete the app and reinstall. My Roku app for instance sometimes doesn't change the TV channels so I deleted the app and reinstall. It works okay a few times then starts again not changing the channels. Or the Roku app often can open itself so again reboot and then it opens. Facebook constantly has those alert notifications of let's say 9 alerts, I'll go into the app click on the notifications, leave the app, then later still 9 alerts or more with new alerts that came in after the 9. Reboot then it's gone. At the airport recently wanting to get Uber/Lyft, "no signal." Screw it catch taxi instead. Or I'll take pics or videos but later when I try to retrieve it nope no where to be found. Numerous problems too many to list. My old iPhone used to work everytime and was very reliable. This Samsung is like using a toy and is very unreliable.

Another major one is when receiving calls, I can press the green answer button until the cows return home but the phone won't answer but I'll get the voice mail later. But occasionally when I get a spam call it will work but then I end up hanging up on the spammer anyways. Come to think of it spam calls seems to work. I take that back yesterday my Dr. called to report a benign cyst removal after the doctor's visit when at the time their system was down so had to call me back when their system got back running again. That call I was able to get.

What a massive pain - you need to be able to answer calls.

Thanks bj for this info. I might sell my galaxy s22 plus using Decluttr.com which shows they'd pay $400. At first I was thinking of selling it on eBay at auction which could fetch maybe $500 but the buyer might claim the phone is defective and experience all the same problems that I'm having and want a refund which I'm okay with refunding but the time wasted shipping it back and forth will be a major pain in the butt. Decluttr would do some fast tests and if acceptable they send payment and it'll be done with. BTW, in my phone's settings I set it to answer automatically after 2 seconds and activated answering with the volume up button and now it answers. But for some reason the green button still doesn't answer. When the iPhone 14 plus for $899 becomes available on Oct 14 from the Apple Store I'm getting it.
