So let's say an average commercial is 30 seconds. Let's take an average of 5 commercials per break, and 6 breaks in an hour show. And let's say someone is watching three hours of tv a night, every night. That works out to over 270 hours a year of being a captive audience for advertisements. Sheesh.

If it is a show that I am casually interested in, then it isn't going to bother me if I return 30 to 60 seconds late. If it is a show I really enjoy, I don't mind getting back early and seeing a commercial.
I can't think of a single thing I am missing out on that I want to do that could be achieved with the insignificant minutes worth of commercials each night.
Now if I could bank those minutes, then it would be a different story. But life doesn't work that way.

As a Patriots fan, I am sure you are happy with the win no matter how it played out. As a sports fan that doesn't support either team, I would have rather seen the champion win the game with dominant play. As opposed to watching a team fall apart and hand the victory over. Atlanta choked. That was the theme at the convenience store this morning, and so far here in the office.
I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that last Patriots kick off in the 4th quarter reached the end zone. With zero timeouts left and less than a minute to go, the return guy brings the ball out and doesn't even reach the 20. Sure there is always a chance he could have broke one, but there was a penalty on the 2 point conversion making it a short kickoff. Just not a good set up for a big return. So he wasted time off the clock and made the field even longer.

I don't think that's accurate but if you want to take away credit from the Pats because they had the ball bounce their way a lot in the last few moments.. I would definitely agree with you. The Edelman catch was a lot of effort but a lot of luck as well.
The Patriots deserve all the credit in the world for taking full advantage of the choke. Most teams in the NFL wouldn't have been able to comeback from that deficit even with that choke job.
But if there wasn't a choke then they wouldn't have won the game.

Superbowl win
Hey guys,
I know I'm kind of late to this thread but I ended up not spending much this super bowl. A friend of mine invited me over and I brought over some chips, dip and a bottle of bourbon. I'm still in shock at the result though. I'm an Arizona Cardinals fan but I was rooting for the pats. Still can't believe they were able to pull it off.

The host had the same opinion as I do that it was still quite remarkable that the Patriots were able to take full advantage of every Falcons mistake.

Probably was the biggest comeback win in superbowl history. First OT in superbowl history.
Falcons deserved to lose giving up a lead that big, then going to OT. Once Pats got the ball, I knew they were going to win, the falcons defense couldn't stop the offense at all in the second half.

When Tom Brady threw the interception for the pick 6 in about the 2nd quarter, I lost all hope and thought all of my bets would lose. Then when the rally began for the Patriots in the 2nd half, slowly my hope started to gain momentum, sort of like a dieing patient coming out of a coma then upgrading to the ICU, then getting stabilized, and going into rehab, and miraculously coming back to life and starts walking and talking and gaining strength (lol). I was bewildered when the game went to OT, thinking okay I just won $32.50 with the OT bet. And with OT I knew my over 59 points would win as well with another $47.75. At that point during the OT if the Patriots won by 3 points I would have been happy with a tie (push) on my $50 bet for the Patriots to win by 3 points. But when the Patriots scored the touch down in OT, my jaw dropped that I actually won another $95.45. As Tom Petty's songs goes, "even the losers get lucky sometimes." (lol).
