  • How much have you made in rewards this year?

So, the year is coming to an end. How did you fair off this year in rewards on your reward card? Mine is a point system that converts to dollars, so I'll just show dollar form.

    Capital One = 227.88$
    Barclay (daily driver) = 243.80$ + 21$ not used

492.68$, easily over 500$ this year

Interest paid to these cards? = ZERO They paying me to use them.

I'm looking at about $1,500. in cash back from my BofA Visa Travel Rewards Card. Amount of 2016 finance charges, ZERO!

Not sure about credit cards but I was looking over my mrrebates account the other day and between my 2 accounts I've made over $4500 in referral rebates since 2010. I haven't even been adding new referrals for the past several years but I'm still managing to get around $30 a month, free money whenever one of my referrals buys something using the mrrebates rebate and as every year December is very robust for my referral rebates

How does this work? It sounds like a great passive income opportunity.

$3000 in cash back on my 2% Citi card
          $2400 in airline miles
Probably some various other stuff, but that's the biggies.

Up to $1,800 this year. Kind of pathetic, since we averaged $3k for the past several years. (But the bigger bonuses seem to be drying up, which is understandable).

I've never paid a finance charge to the credit card companies.

You login to mrrebates before you go shopping at say Walmart, you link to the Walmart website through mrrebates and you earn 2% on your purchase. Rebates go up to 10% or more depending on the store, there are a ton of stores participating in the rebate. As a referrer I get 20% of the earned rebate from each of my referrals

You guys making me feel like I'm barely doing anything. I guess I need to up my spending next year!!!

Actually, part of why it is lower is because I only decided to go full time credit card later this year. Up tell then I did most of my normal shopping (gas, food, etc) with a debit card.

So far it is $545.60. All of the rebates haven't posted yet, but I don't expect them to be a lot. I think it is on par with what we normally get.

I've never actually added up all of my CC rewards before, but out of curiosity I went back and checked.... WOW!

                    Total: ~$975 in 2016!
~$660 from Citi Double Cash (2% back)
                    ~$75 from Discover (5% back)
~$25 from Citi Costco (only as of October, 2-4% back)
~$215 from Sallie Mae card (5% back ..... sadly, this fantastic card is going away effective March 2017...just got the letter in the mail yesterday )

Overall, I averaged about 3.25% back on my annual CC spending (~$30k). That's great, though unfortunately that's only about half of my annual expenses -- I can't pay the rest by CC, and thus limiting my rewards... ::sigh:: oh well, can't win 'em all....

Same here. My sole CC paid me $1230 for using the card this year.

Those who like to finance on CC, please continue to do so that the CC company can keep paying me to use the card

It's always a little tough to put a dollar amount on the rewards because our primary card is Marriott Rewards. How much the points are worth depends on how we redeem them.

On vacation earlier this month, we used points to get 3 free hotel nights. I'd say those 3 nights would have cost about $350 had we been paying cash. We didn't use all of the points earned this year, though, so that's just a portion of them. Most get carried over until we need them. At the moment, we've got about 235,000 points on our account. Free nights start at 10,000 points so we have enough for up to 23 free nights. Realistically it will be less than that since we won't always stay at hotels with the cheapest point price but 2 of the 3 nights we used month were 10K. The other was 15K.

                          Hmm...for 2016 rewards

$1700 cash/gift cards for amex platinum points
$1400 in 2 round trip tickets from east coast to Kona using points
$700 in 2 round trip tickets from east coast to denver using points

I think my wife also earned $90 with some citi costco card.
She also received $550 in various gift cards...cant remember what credit card bonus that was for.

Forgot about my hotel and rental car points. That's probably another $4000.
