My Roomba i7+ is vacuuming our house now. Our main floor is 2,500 sq ft, all hardwood with area rugs. It handles all of that just fine. I love it. It's the first time it has run in about 3 months. My wife won't use it. She will only run it when we are home because the cat barfs sometimes and the Roomba would do its best to distribute the barf evenly around the house. And when she runs it while we are home, she is annoyed by the noise. It takes it a while to do the whole floor and she can use our cordless stick vac to hit the important areas in 5 minutes. So the Roomba mostly just sits in the laundry room looking lonely.
So, is it worth it? I think so. I had a cheaper one that vacuumed great but did not have a mapping feature so it just wandered around the house for hours before it hit every spot. I gave that to my daughter for her smaller townhouse and she loves it. The i7+ has a mapping feature so it knows the shape and size of all the rooms and where all the furniture is. This really cuts down on the time it tales to hit every spot. I can also tell it to clean just one or two rooms. The other thing I love about the i7+ is that it has a feature that empties the bin into the dock. Holds about a month worth of debris. When it gets full, it sends you a notice on your phone. But it costs $800, so there's that.
If you have pets, a normal sized house and will be home when you run it, I would get one of the highly rated ones on Amazon. I bought the eufy on Amazon for $160 and it vacuums very well (that's the one I gave to my daughter). Looks like Roomba has an i3+ for $549 that has a lot of great features.
For $160, get a eufy and see if it works for you.

We have dogs (well, one dog now), so you know, you can't totally control what they do and do your best to clean up after any accidents you know about and enzyme treat it. I always took good care of that carpet though, or so I thought, vacuumed it at least weekly with a very good vacuum. It looked fine to my eyes, but the carpet person's report was not very kind and said there was buildup in the carpet fibers (in addition to a few dog stains). Then I googled it just now and it says you should vacuum high traffic areas daily, and everything else twice a week. So I am debating a robot vacuum in the new house, because I don't think I have it in me to vacuum every single day. How does anyone vacuum every day? Yikes. Anyone else have a robot vac and find it to be worth the money? Any brands you'd recommend?
