Do you keep cash in case of emergencies?

Read about the 1994 Northridge quake, which was so severe that 57 people died and 8700 were injured. Eleven local hospitals were damaged, some so severely they were uninhabitable. A week after the quake, tens of thousands of residents were still without water.



Ask the people of Hilo if it's paranoid to prepare for a tsunami.

How would having lots of cash help if tens of thousands are without water? were stores selling water for $100/gal? I don't think so.

I don't know; I've only visited the big island a few times.

We keep cash around, maybe $500 in various places. Not sure why, other than it makes a convenient ATM. I guess I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. If I say we have it for a disaster, the pundits will tell me how stupid that is. People need to relax a bit around here.

We also have loaded guns and lots of ammunition.

We do keep some cash but it's in 20's and your post makes me think that I need to exchange some of that for 1's and 5's. Thanks.

Picked up some 1's and 5's at the bank on Thursday, so I feel a little bit more prepared.

Our stash of cash came in handy last night. Us soccer moms went to Bingo and the soccer dads played poker and watched the kids.

I used to dang it but I squandered it all away for this and that over the years and never replaced it. I'll have to put it back on my list, go to bank and get some money out!
