For the 1st stimulus yes I qualified making under $75k in 2019. I'm not sure why I didn't get the 2nd stimulus (not sure if I qualified because I'm not sure if the Feds used 2019 or 2020 tax returns). For this 3rd stimulus I was quite positive that I didn't qualify due to making over $75k in 2020 so I was surprised to get it.

I see Jluke your possible $1400 stimulus plus up. My neighbor has 5 kids and got $1400 for each kid this third round.
How else might you get a stimulus plus-up?
You may also be eligible for a plus-up payment if you:- Are a married couple who files jointly, have now filed your 2020 tax return, and it includes a new child or dependent.

Can the feds ask for my 3rd stimulus back? You see simultaneously to receiving my 3rd stimulus check, I had mailed them my 2020 income tax where I included the sale of a property of $250,000 putting my income way over the threshold of $75,000. They probably used my 2019 tax return which was under $75,000. I'm worried they will send me a letter asking for my 3rd stimulus back. Any thoughts?

I haven't checked to see if I have received the check yet, but I did receive a letter from Biden over the weekend. It went along the lines of "Most Americans are getting $1,400.... you're getting $500".
I couldn't help but think of Atlas Shrugged. "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need".

yes. we need to keep paying needy people to not work, and borrow money in the $ trillions to do so.Originally posted by myrdale View PostI haven't checked to see if I have received the check yet, but I did receive a letter from Biden over the weekend. Texas makes a good point. To me it is a big waste of money. I have been gainfully employed through out the entire pandemic and therefore didn't need any stimulus payments but since they sent it to me, I won't send it back. They should have given it only to people who were collecting unemployment benefits but I guess that would be too much work and instead send it to everyone making under $75,000. Such wasteful spending IMHO.

It's a stimulus. Not basic income. Although I'm sure many people found themselves in the position of spending it on basic needs. The idea behind a stimulus is to spend it.Originally posted by QuarterMillionMan View PostTexas makes a good point. To me it is a big waste of money. But that is a good point. If you don't agree with it or think the government shouldn't have borrowed the money so they could send it to you, you can always gift it back to the US Treasury.History will judge the complicit.

Exactly. The point is for you to take the money and circulate it into the economy. Go out to eat. Go shopping. Fix up the house. Buy a car. Take a trip.Originally posted by ua_guy View Post

Even people who didn't have any interruption in their income were tightening up the purse strings throughout the pandemic for a variety of reasons. Stimulus money was to encourage you to loosen up and spend some money.Steve
