T-mobile is irking me. Transferred my number to Mint mobile on 7/31/23. Today T-mobile's autopay charged my credit card $50. My only recourse is to contact my credit card company to try and reverse the charge.

Hello Mobile is part of T-Mobile's 4G LTE/5G network.
I have Cricket Mobile for $25/mo with unlimited texts and calls. I have a flip phone, so no data. My only quibble is that I sometimes have trouble getting a signal inside the building where I work.

No data, that would not be easy for me to live without data. I have to have data. I don't know how you do it without data.

I have a flip phone. I suppose if I worked really hard, I could get it set up for wi fi, but don't really have an interest. Thus, no need for data.

So I recently switched to Google Fi, to keep my US phone number while I'm stationed in Japan. I got their "flexible" plan for now, which has a $20/mo base charge & includes unlimited texts, free calls with US/Canada/Mexico, low-cost international calls (2¢/min to Japanese numbers), and cellular data is charged at $10/GB used (prorated to actual use).

What I'm finding is that it's very easy to keep my bill very low -- I keep my data turned off most of the time to prevent cellular data use, while keeping WiFi on all the time. My house, office, and most of the places I go all have Wi-Fi, so my phone functions normally at all of those locations as long as I'm on WiFi. It's only when I'm driving between places that I don't have data access. I use Google Maps in WiFi-only mode & have a downloaded map of the area, so no data is needed for GPS driving directions. Then if I find that I do need cell data somewhere that I don't have WiFi access (not often), I can just turn my data back on to do what I need, then turn it back off.

Last month, I used . 83 GB of cell data, so my cell bill was only $31.75 (including $3.50 taxes)... Though I also got a one-time $20 referral discount, so actually only paid $11.75. ⅓ the way through this month, and I've so far used zero data... So I'm rather liking how cheaply I've got my cell phone right now.

Of course, my wife burns through data like mad, and she doesn't have the tolerance/attention to do what I'm doing... So when she joins me out here, we're gonna switch to an unlimited everything plan, which will be $55/line... But I'll enjoy my cheap cell service while I can!

The $15 credit can be used when I renew my service on Oct 31. I signed up for Mint's introductory plan $15 a month for 3 months of 15 GB data each month. On Oct 31 the plan then increases to $35 a month for 3 months, or $25 a month for 6 months, or $20 a month for 12 months which is the best deal which I'll likely get. I like Mint's data roaming in Mexico which costs extra but carries over each month for unused data.
