  • What movies or TV shows are you watching?

We've been catching more movies and shows in the evenings due to the pandemic.
    Mostly Netflix shows
What have you been watching lately?

Here is what I've watched recently

    On Netflix:

    Locke and Key
Sort of a sci-fi/fantasy series. It's only one season so far, but I enjoyed it

    Outer Banks
this one is about a group of teens who are searching for lost gold and run into lots of trouble along the way.

    Shameless
Classic crude humor. Love this show.

    Stranger Things
Just started the 3rd season. Classic cold war story with a sci-fi twist

    Movies:

    Terminator Dark Fate
I've always been a fan of the terminator series. This one bombed at the theater, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Worth checking out if you are a fan of the series.

I'm playing catch up since classes are wrapped up till Fall. Dark Season 3 (probably my fav show right now) I'll start this week. Black Monday was hilarious, and I finished last week. I only got through season 2 of Insecure, which I'm not going to resume. Otherwise my regulars are This is Us, Billions, Better Call Saul, Ozark, Cobra Kai, Curb your Enthusiasm, It's always sunny in philadelphia, and The Boys.

Most recent movies: Little Joe (meh), Vivarium (too long, but creepy), Dom Hemingway (meh), The Platform (or El Hoyo, disturbing but very good).
"I'd buy that for a dollar!"

We (or I) have seen or are currently watching:

      Ozark
      Stranger Things
      Black Mirror
      The Politician
      The 100
      Schitt's Creek
      Hollywood
      Mrs. Maisel
      Orange is the New Black
      Mad Men
      Another Life
      The Good Place
      Dead To Me
      The Magicians
      Good Omens
      Sabrina
      Lost In Space
      Money Heist

I'd recommend all of those. The only show we started recently and I just couldn't get into was The Expanse.

A friend (who was trapped in quarantine) recently asked for some recommendations, so I actually have my list readily available -- here's some of the shows/movies I've watched over probably the last year or so & enjoyed:

Netflix shows: Madame Secretary, Umbrella Academy, Blue Bloods (on CBS too), Blacklist (on NBC too), All American, Designated Survivor, the new Lost in Space, Raising Dion, Explained (random topics, but quite interesting). House of Cards was good (I was behind the times on that one), but was also more crude than I can really enjoy. I also want to try watching Space Force, but haven't gotten to it yet.
Netflix movies: The Spy, The Angel, The Resistance Banker, and The Red Sea Diving Resort (those 4 were all semi-historical stories about Israel), The Theory of Everything (about Stephen Hawking),
Disney+: Hamilton, The Mandalorian (actually watched all of the Star Wars movies all over again)
NBC: New Amsterdam, House (found the entire series somewhere & watched it again from start to finish)
CBS: Bull, Star Trek: Picard (DW's a quasi-Trekkie, I'm totally ignorant... but even knowing none of the backstory, Picard was entertaining), Young Sheldon, Big Bang Theory (been watching that for years),

Clearly, I've had alot of time on my hands, between being deployed away from family (main entertainment options: exercise & watching movies/TV) & staying home thanks to COVID.

I have been watching a lot of c-span, lately. They recently did re-runs in a couple of series they have aired in the past. One was on First Ladies and the other was on landmark supreme court cases.

Also, HGTV. A couple of my faves are Hometown and Good Bones, but I will watch most of the remodeling shows and some of the house hunting shows.

I try to hit PBS newshour, BBC news and NHK news (on PBS. )

I'm working my way through Blue Bloods on DVD (had been before the pandemic), currently on Season 7.

I did a free Netflix trial back in January. The best thing I watched was Midnight Diner Tokyo Stories (2 seasons).

Good movies I've seen on DVD recently:
              Ford vs Ferrari
              Hotel Mumbai
              Just Mercy
              Love & Mercy

We're learning spanish so mostly spanish netflix originals (finished Casa de la Flores, started Club de Cuervos). We also started rewatching the Ranch for a light before bed comedy when we get tired of reading subtitles haha

Money Heist (Casa de Papel) is excellent, though I'm not sure if they have it in Spanish or just dubbed in English.
