It’s very bad, I live a half mile from Beverly Hills and there is nothing positive to report. The protestors are unhinged and are now focusing on “affluent” areas. There is no police protection so I’m hopeful that my complex and surrounding (businesses are spared). However, when the Fairfax and 3rd became the epicenter, then I knew what the outcome would be.

Here in Portland, Oregon much of the downtown was damaged in rioting. It was mostly superficial - graffiti and broken glass, but there was a good amount of it.
The Mayor has ordered a curfew tonight - we'll see if it helps.
It has been pretty amazing how quickly this has gone national.
Its going to be very expensive to fix - police overtime and more closures - plus lost business revenue along with downstream economic effects.
At this point I'm ready for the guard to be mobilized. Its out of control.james.c.hendrickson@gmail.com

I live in a town that is full of rich white and Asian folk. I moved here specifically for the school district and I rent. I couldn't afford even a condo here, leave alone a house with a yard.
Today, on Twitter, I saw people talking about taking this "sh1t" (code for arson & violence) to my town and the other affluent ones around it. It really scares me because as much as I empathize with genuine protests I am loathe to support rioting, theft, arson and vandalism. I honestly feel that this is no longer about George Floyd but about targeting businesses and cities for LOOTING and PROFITEERING.
I called my local police station and expressed my concern about the fact that people are talking about targeting affluent neighborhoods and mobilizing on social media. NO, I do not own a gun, but I am starting to wish I had. I support protests but not rioting and looting. I will do anything to protect my family and if I see rioters at my door, I will fight. I will not tolerate my home being burglarized or my family threatened. I hope the police are taking these threatening tweets seriously because, again, this no longer appears to be about Justice for George but about criminal intentions, violence & (for me) self-preservation.Last edited by Scallywag; 05-30-2020, 06:37 PM.

I support protests but not rioting and looting.
And no, this has nothing to do with George Floyd. Prayer sessions and candlelight vigils and peaceful protests are about that. Looting and rioting are not. And as I said earlier, indications are that white supremacy groups are behind some of this, at least in Minneapolis.Steve
