LOL. You were talking about crossing the border and missing the last cut off so I thought you meant something about missing your last chance to cross.

        • Sorry to hear about your wife DS. Back problems are tough! Hopefully she will find what works for her and get relief very soon.

We have travel planned for 2022. I've flown even in bad viral surges (kept mask on the whole time for a 3 hour flight to Florida last Feb). We are off to Florida again for 9 days a week from Sunday, and my 14 year old DD and I have a mom-daughter Disney trip (long weekend) all booked for April- she is so excited as Disney is her favorite place in the world.

I'm also planning to go to two work conferences as they are still 'in person' as of now- Portland, OR in May and San Francisco in June. I guess worst case scenario I mask up a lot, eat outside if cases are high and my vaccines are useful anymore and I can't get the Pfizer anti-viral pill easily if I test positive. I'm hoping that medication will be a game charger for all as far as risk of both acute symptoms and long COVID.

I'd like to go back to New Orleans, maybe even go to Italy (never been there) if my husband starts working again and then we have extra income.

Thank you. She's better than she was but is far from okay.

            • The dangers of traveling in the time of COVID:

A friend remarried last year. He and his wife went to Spain last month for their 1st anniversary. Before traveling home, they had to have COVID tests. She tested negative. He tested positive. So she flew home; he stayed. A week later, he retested and was still positive. Now, he's finally negative and returning home 3 weeks later.

Maybe traveling out of the country is a bad idea this year.

                • My thing about testing, why test unless I have trouble breathing, or I have a fever, or I have a bad cough. Or a requirement by the airlines needing to test before a flight. My free tests from Biden iare sitting on my shelf collecting dust. I tried selling mine's on eBay but they cancelled my listing. For my work if I test positive then I'll need a doctor's note in order to return to work so I don't care to know unless like I stated above where I have trouble breathing, or a fever, or coughing.

The main reason is so that you know you need to isolate and for how long so that you don’t infect others.

                    • Problem with this testing to return home to the US is that the US Government turns around and says that no one, including unvaccinated people need to test while flying within the US. Technically, I can be unvaccinated, covid positive and still freely fly between any cities within the US. No one as of yet has explained to me how that makes sense. Testing positive and having to quarantine in a foreign country is my worse nightmare. Just hoping it gets dropped before May.

                      • Hawaii Safe Travels might be the only state in the nation that will not allow a + test into their state. Hawaii is strict about it.

Right or wrong, a person can be fully vaccinated, be covid positive and still fly to Hawaii unrestricted if they wanted. There's also talk of Hawaii dropping all covid requirements in the very near future.

Do they take your temperature at the airport when you land if you have a vaccine exemption?

                              • No, you're free to spread it to anyone! Literally nothing when you get off the flight, same as always. It's no different than hundreds (thousands?) of covid positive passengers flying everyday across the US mainland.
