    My thoughts also.
Speaking as an old fart, it amazes me how many people run around and operate their daily live with little or no cash. My kids would probably take a cross country trip with $10 in their pockets and wouldn't be bothered by it.
We live in rural small town midwest and there are still a few successful mom & pop restaurants and diners that are cash only. I think it's kind of neat, they stay busy and people find a way to pay to eat there.

I'm an old fart, too, but I have to admit I fall more in line with everyone else. I ALWAYS have cash in my wallet, but the very same bills may be in there for weeks or months without getting used. I use a credit card for virtually everything. The only time I use cash is at a casino, at a yard sale or flea market (which we rarely do anymore), or on the very rare occasion when we encounter a merchant that accepts cash only.

In Philadelphia, just a few miles from me, there was a battle over businesses wanting to go cashless. They finally passed a law making that illegal forcing businesses to continue accepting cash. Some other cities have done the same. I understand why going cashless is seen as discriminatory but I also don't think businesses should be forced into handling cash when there are legitimate business and security reasons not to.

I'm basically the same as DS -- I normally have at least some cash in my wallet (though almost never more than $40)...However, I virtually never use it. I've even traveled around the world, through a litany of different countries, and still never used paper (or their plastic monopoly money) cash for purchases. Over 3 weeks traveling, and zero cash used. Personally, I love it. I've always hated coins, and paper bills aren't much better -- easier to lose, and constantly running out so you have to grab more from an ATM or whatever. I'm pretty sure the cash in my wallet right now has been there probably since at least October.

I think I’ll put a post-it on a few bills in my wallet and take note of when they get spent. Of course I have no idea how long they’ve already been in there. I did get some cash yesterday from a Facebook Marketplace sale. I’ll tag $35 which is what I just got and see how long I keep it.

I use cash when I go out to eat. My rule is if my credit card is going to be out of my site, I pay cash. If I can pay at the register and watch the cashier run my card, then I'll do credit. I guess I'm old school that way.

I have $5 in my wallet unusual. Usually a $20. But not more and not usually small bills.
