* Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
* Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
* There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

We're going in January - we always go in either January or February. I wouldn't go to Disney in the summertime if you paid for my trip!I have a now 3rd grader and one in pre-K and we always just take my oldest out of school. He's a great student so I really don't worry about it! It's cheaper, less crowded, and makes for a much more enjoyable trip for us!

We just returned from our visit. We met up with our son (who lives about 4 hours away from WDW). Our son declared it an overwhelming success--especially food wise. DS is accustomed to the heat and the humidity, but the heat really got to me. I don't think I will plan another trip at the end of Sept if there is any way to avoid it.
We did get our free Annual Passholder port wine glasses. I think they are really cute.

We're heading down in November. That'll be our first time going at a time other than August in 8 years so we're looking forward to that. Also going in January. Can't wait to not be melting while we stroll around.Steve

Yes- I love Disneyland, too.
One nice thing about Disneyland is there are "good neighbor" hotels practicall right across the street. I noticed there is a new courtyard marriott that recently opened (not too far from the entrance) that has a 2 queen (or 1 king) plus 2 bunk bed configuration--plus they look like they have a mini water park! (Wish we had younger kids to try this out-lol)
As far as the parks, I love that everything is so close and walkable.

I loved it. Being a lifelong Disney fan, seeing the original park was really a special experience. As L2P mentioned, I love that Disneyland is walkable, even if you aren't staying at a Disney hotel onsite. We stayed across the street at a Marriott property and could see the monorail going by and could watch fireworks from our balcony. Plus we were able to walk to the park each morning. Also, the two parks there are literally across the plaza from each other so you can go between them very easily. No transportation needed. Everything is walkable. I hope we get out there again sometime soon.Steve

LivingAlmostLarge,
I don't know what your time horizon is for going to Disneyland, but they have special events for the fall and Christmas season. In the fall, they have Halloweentime--they have a Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay where it changes to a Nightmare Before Christmas theme inside and out. Then, around early November they install a special Christmas overlay at the It's a Small World ride. (They also have a ride called Storybook Land where you can see miniature houses--some of which are decorated with Christmas decorations as well).
There are special treats sold, too such as Pumpkin Mickey beignets in the fall and Gingerbread Mickey beignets in December and handmade Candy canes (you can watch them make them). Yum!

Disney recently posted the latest annual pass price increase...
They are tacking on the photo pass to most of the passes. (We never use the photo pass!)
At Disney World:
Disney Platinum Plus Pass (incl tax) $882.89
(The platinum plus pass includes the water parks, ESPN and a golf course.)
Disney Platinum Pass (incl tax) $797.69
At Disneyland:
Disney Signature Plus Annual Passport $1049
Disney Signature Annual Passport (has block out dates) $849
(has blockout dates)
Disney Deluxe Annual Passport $599
(has more blockout dates than the signature)
Disneyland's plus pass costs more than WDW!
