At one point I took one of Kramer's recommendations and bought a concentrated position in a single stock. I did okay, but the downturn in the market has got me thinking about the utility of listening to "gurus" like him. When I watch Kramer on TV most of the time he seems like he's done his homework and his advice is legit, but when I consider it, the guy seems like he's pushing too much content to have a coherent perspective.
I’m asking because I've heard good conflicting arguments about him. So, I'm not really sure how to make up my mind about the quality of the advice he's giving.

But, I stopped taking advice from talking heads on individual stocks a long time ago. What I would like to see is back testing on all the stock recommendations that are made 1 year later--not just Kramer, but all the financial gurus/magazines. I feel like they have to fill the time (or magazine space) with something, so they make recommendations. There will be a change to the stock just by a recommendation being made.
