  • Are you going to have a Super Bowl party?

Are you going to have, or attend, a Super Bowl party this year? If you do host or attend a Super Bowl party, how much does this usually cost you? Do you do any betting on the Super Bowl? How much does food and snacks cost you?

I have hosted Super Bowl parties in the past, but there was minimal cost for food. We always asked people who came to the party to bring a potluck snack and whatever booze they wanted to drink. Recently, I have found that it's a good day to go skiing as it's one weekend day during the ski season when the slopes aren't crowded at all because everybody is in watching the game. I might not be doing that this year because the snow was so bad in my area of the country, but when the snow is good it's a great way to spend the day.

I'm going to a Super Bowl party. I'm taking a few pizzas and some beer with me.

We are having a group over we always have over for the game. It will be a few hundred dollars in all with food, drinks and alcohol, but then we get freebies on other events where those coming over pay for everything, so it's a lot less than it seems.

I will party with me, myself and I. That means I get to treat myself to some foods I LOVE but normally do not allow myself due to cost and trying to eat healthy.

I will have a dip & pretzels or chips, ribs, not healthy green beans and potato wedges and a LOT of wine.

I bet $200 on the game taking Seahawks +1 (underdogs).

Definitely going to be a big party at my place. Really can't wait for Sunday. I'm cautiously expecting a Seahawks win, but really hope Richard Sherman plays, being on baby watch and all.

I work out on Sun mornings, so tempted to hit the hills snowboarding as someone else noted about being less busy that day.
"I'd buy that for a dollar!"

I take it from that you are not American. I'm not American either but I would urge more people to actually take an objective look at the sport. I know in Europe, most people wouldn't bat an eyelid at American football, but if they actually took the time to understand the sport, or better yet, play the sport, they would soon find it is far more intelligent and engaging than they presume.

I watch a lot of Football, or Soccer as many people in the US like to call it, and although I am a much bigger "soccer" fan, I've got a lot of time for American football as well.

And as for the comment about them being girly men, which I think was said with your tongue firmly in cheek, I'd still hasten to point out just how much more daunting and dangerous the game of American football is than Rugby, just look at injury statistics.

I am american...it was more of a joke. I hear a lot of people who enjoy rugby say that. Its a tough sport, no doubt. There have actually been arguments that football would be safer if pads/helmets wouldnt be worn. Theres no way they would hit each other head on running full speed knowing the consequences. They would be more aware of the damage that could/would happen if they did such a thing.

When you take essentially super human Goliaths hitting each other with full force over and over...head trauma is almost inevitable. You can only have so many concussions before you're in serious trouble long term. Scary stuff.

Glad my plans were me, myself & I. I suspect a LOT of party plans here in metro Chicago (all of IL, IN, IA....) have changed. Forecast is for 12 inches of snow starting tonight and thru to about 6 am Mon. DD1 does NOT participate. DD2 is just going to a neighbor across the street so she is prob still on.

Decided to stay home this year, just me and the other half. We ordered pizza ($25) and bought two new bottles of booze ($45).

It was a cheap date considering what we usually end up bringing to others' parties, or hosting one of our own. Combined with the outcome of the game, I'm pretty happy we didn't get too excited this year! lol
