We moved into a new home Sep 2014.
We sold our old home as well. I lived in my old home since graduating college in 2000.

I put off moving a long time. It was so much work and hell. We had a buyer's financing fall through almost 60 days after accepting first offer and were lied to through the process many times. We went back on the market and sold a week later again. (yes home improvements pay off as does living in a hot area)I hated the showings. I hated the packing. I hated the negotiating. I hated that my realtor was quite bad in MANY ways. I hated being pregnant moving(luckily I was in good shape)
But here I am now....in my new home...I am so much happier. Sometimes moving is worth it.
I love the new area and I love going from a quad level with steps all day with a tiny basement to a ranch with a large basement.

I just wanted to say it's amazing when hard work pays off. Life is happier when the house you are in works!!!! I'm in shape and able bodied but a ranch makes my life easier.
I am against buying too much home and for living below your means.
we went from a paid off home to a mortgage of about 70K to move.
I miss having home paid off but it was worth it. Oh and better schools for kids now so that's good.

What a wonderful outcome, your happiness flies off the page and makes me smile. Having a mortgage isn't a bad thing, it could be considered a challenge to discover 'snowflakes' to devote to paying down the principal. Moving after living in the same house for nearly 14 years is a huge amount of work. Having a lousy agent adds so much stress. True, people make offers when they are in debt up to their eyeballs and ineligible for a mortgage.

I hope the buying process for your new home went smoothly and left you with pleasant memories.

Congratulations!! I remember seeing some of your posts and the accompanying despair. Other Things are definitely easier to deal with when life at home is going well, especially in a place you love!
