In the past, I would have said my money pit was my Disney memorabilia collection but that's no longer true. For a couple of years recently, we were on a casino binge, but we stopped that a while ago. Today, we're only a couple of months away from the money pit known as college for our daughter so I guess I'd have to put that at the top of the list now.

      * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
      * Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
      * There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

DH and his love of gadgetry. He's worth every penny though.

I don't really think I have a money pit, however I just spent hundreds of dollars in cycling gear/maintenance. Cheap money for something I enjoy!

My house is my money pit. It seems like I'll never run out of ways I'd like to spend money making it better.

That's a good looking money pit.

                    72? El Camino?

350/ TH350 combo or has it had work done to it?
                    History will judge the complicit.

yep, '72 el camino, it has a recent 350 crate, th400 and 12 bolt rear, i think i did good for 6K

it has some rust and an exhaust leak, gonna have new pipes welded up so there goes another $200

then tackle the rusty rocker panels in between the wheels

good thing is i took a little casino trip of my own and hit for $65 for free mufflers

Lots of uses for a car/truck like that. I have always had a liking for these type vehicles.

                            1) our 80 year old house, which we moved into 2 years ago. Constantly dumping money into it to fix it up, even though it seems like in good condition, things haven't been replaced in 30 years. To update one thing (say a fence that fell down) you need an electrician to come and remove all these lights, and electrical boxes that had been overgrown and non functional for probably 20 years, then a landscaper to come and take down trees that grew up around the fence. Then finally the fence guy.

                            2) running. I run 50 miles per week, and like to run competitively. So a few races a year and shoes and workout gear adds up. It might net to zero though in that my waist size hasn't changed in 15 years so I rarely have to buy new clothes. This expense will slow down in 2 years when I stop training for marathons and focus on more local smaller races.

                            3) daycare. $1600 a month for 2 kids (going only 3 days a week). We save $500 a month by having my wife work from home one day, and my MIL watching the other. I hate having this bill, and we still have 4 more years of it to go.

                            4) medical bills. I had 2 surgeries the past year, and of course both were in june, so I had to pay the max out of pocket for healthcare 2 years in a row ($3500 each year). I can't really complain about this, my insurance paid a lot more so it should hurt my wallet a bit. I'm feeling good that I won't need any more surgeries or specialist visits after this year.
