  • How much energy do you use?

Do you know how many KwH you use a month? What do you use and pay?

How many therms if you use natural gas heat do you use? What do you pay?

We used 887 kwh and paid $165 but do balanced billing so i pay $225/month for winter months since we have to use some electric to heat our bottom floor of living.

We use in winter 231 therms and pay $427. We keep our house to 62 and 55 at night.

Is this on par with everyone else? We have an old hold and it leaks heat like crazy.

Use as in this past month or on average?

In may we used 59 therms which was a bill of $75, but we haven't had our heat or air on for some time. Gas use is pretty much just the stove/oven and water heater. Our higest month in the last year was January - we were billed for 215 therms which cost $190. We have a 2600 sq ft house built in 1965 but we also have some of the lowest utility costs in the country here.

Our electric usage in May was 603kWh and we paid $63.

We do budget billing as well and pay $195/mo for both gas and electric.

Here is my electric usage for the past few years in kwh/month. I currently pay right around $0.16 / kwh.

Our therm usage ranges from 100 in the summer to a max of 210 in the winter. electric ranges from 1500-1800kwh depending on how much we heat the swim spa.

Based on a 4800 sqft ranch and keeping the heat at 70 and air at 74 (when we use them)

          Our last bills were:

$15 for gas, used water heater and stove for cooking.
$33 for electric, used some air conditioner, we also use electricity for well pump, and we use a ton of water for garden, trees and grass. I don't use dryer, but we have 2 refrigerators and a deep freezer, use incubator and a heat lamp for the chicks.

We have 5 people in the house, 1400 sq feet. We keep it at 74 in the winter and at 76 in the summer. We turn off ac and open the windows at night and morning when it's cool outside. We also use the wood stove in the winter, lots of work, but saves us $$.

It sounds to me like you use a lot of energy, but I guess you are in a warmer climate than I am. We use about $100 worth of natural gas in the winter months to keep our house at 71 degrees. In the winter we use about 700 khw which is $80 worth of electricity. In the summer we use about $110 worth of electricity (1000 kwh) with the AC set to 76.

Autoxer I pay 20.2 Cent/KWH. And $1.38 per therm for heating in winter.

Bigdaddy what do you pay for what you use?

bzbee, is it because you use little or it costs litt.e?

humandraydel I doubt it I'm in a warmer climate. Rather I use 110 kwh more and almost double(I paid $165 for 887 versus $110 for 1000 kwh), and I our heat see rate above. I really don't heat our house considering we gets tons of snow and cold.

I suspected our utilities were a lot, but confirmation helps.

.12 per KWH (both include all taxes and fees)
                .64 per therm

We live in central IL and had one of the coldest winters on record last year. I am very happy with the efficiency our our ranch home compared to our previous two story. Our ranch has 1300more sq ft than our previous 2 story (both homes less than 20 yrs old) and is alot cheaper to heat and cool. Now if I could just get all 4 kids to turn off lights more!

                    Oops I meant colder climate.

I'm in southern North Carolina so we barely get any snow. My house is about 1500 sf and was built in 1980.

                      .
We pay about $1/therm and about 11c/kilowatt. I live in California, so it's really hot in the summer.
