This is another one of my curious questions. What do you usually have for breakfast? Do you usually have a variety of things so that no breakfast is the same, or do you have a breakfast that is almost identical every day? Also, what do you think the typical cost of your breakfast is each morning?

Monday to Friday, I have 1/2 a small glass of OJ to take a vitamin and aspirin. Then I mix plain and honey nut store brand Cheerios with skim milk. And I usually have a few pieces of sliced pears after that.
Saturday and Sunday I usually have oatmeal with a little maple syrup and brown sugar (the real stuff, not the instant kind) and a couple of slices of vegetarian bacon. Sometimes one egg instead of the bacon. And sometimes we do a family breakfast like pancakes with walnuts and blueberries or french toast.
No idea of cost but all of those options are pretty cheap.Steve

2 cups of kefir mixed with a handful of berries. Yummy and easy! Since I ferment my own kefir it is pretty inexpensive. Just the cost of 2 cups of milk. We pick and freeze our own berries. If I'm not feeling lazy I will scramble 2 eggs with a couple handfuls of spinach. I'm usually too lazy!Last edited by Blessed; 04-11-2014, 01:14 PM.

I am often not hungry in the morning, but if I am I will have oatmeal, a Greek yogurt, or egg salad on an English muffin. I will often eat leftovers in the morning as well. Oatmeal is so easy. I just put some old fashioned oats, and maybe some other kind of whole grain in a bowl with water, microwave for 2 minutes and then add a little milk, brown sugar or maple syrup, pecans, dried cranberries, cinnamon, ginger, canned pears or peaches, whatever I have available.
If I wind up buying something on the go it's usually a donut and a coffee. Not the healthiest option ever, but reasonably cheap.

Weekends poached eggs, toast & coffee with some type of fruit, lately kiwi or 1/2 mango

Lately, I have been having Chobani Yogurt with 1/4c of granola. And, cf course, coffee. We often eat breakfast for dinner. Tonight we had omelets, made by my husband with turkey crumbles, peppers, mushrooms, onions and feta cheese. My other blog is Your Organized Friend.

I'm pretty simple with my breakfasts. Normally it's either cold cereal & milk (and I stock up on the cereals whenever I find them at low per-ounce prices), or oatmeal. Sometimes I'll add yogurt, nuts, and/or fruit, but that's about it. Waffles or french toast topped with yogurt are a favorite for more relaxed mornings, but that's rare. When I'm in a rush (far more common), sometimes I'll mix up some of the "Instant Breakfast" chocolate milk mix and call it good...or just skip breakfast entirely (gasp!!)

Instant Breakfast is a staple for me!Originally posted by kork13 View Postsometimes I'll mix up some of the "Instant Breakfast" chocolate milk mix and call it good...
To answer the original question, I've been changing it up lately. For a while I was eating overnight oats, I got bored with it recently, and started making myself a chocolate chia oat smoothie, using my NutriBullet. So far I'm digging it. On the weekends, I tend to make myself eggs - but I also eat a lot of omelettes for dinner. I pretty much feel like breakfast foods are perfect, and would be completely satisfied eating nothing but for the rest of my life.
