Filed on Jan 31 and our refund was deposited today - yay!
I'm not usually that fast, but I did a quick check on Jan 31 and when I saw how big our refund was going to be (oops - wasn't aiming for that) I filed immediately.
We have to pay a small amount to the state, so we'll wait until April to do that.
We've had some significant changes in our finances that I didn't properly account for. Now I'm off to modify our withholding so we don't get such a big refund next year.

vs. <$300 refund) ... but I was deployed for 6 months, so I got a lot of my 2013 income qualified as tax-free, which kept me well inside the 15% bracket vs. the 25% bracket. So whatever... $1k is going to pay down my car loan (between my tax refund & a $1200 escrow refund, this should be finished within 2-3 months! woohoo!), and $800 will go toward finishing off my wedding fund for later this Spring. Considering I'm just throwing it all straight into savings, I'm not too concerned with getting it immediately...so when it shows up in a couple weeks, it'll be no big deal for me, just make the transfers & be done with it.
