Ah man, I need to get a better job quickly.
I work part-time. My husband and I make less than $50,000 a year together. I know people who make double and have more debt and less money than us. Part of my other "job" is to make sure to make what money we have stretch.

One thing that I have learned is that it is not always how much money you make, what you do with the money you have.

It is something to note though, that I definitely feel proud of myself when I hear about people who earn 4-5 times as much as me, but somehow save less, and have debt. It's their choice and their money, but for the life of me I can't imagine spending so much.

It's good to know that even on a $24,000 a year job, assuming 4.5% average return for 36 years, I will be a millionaire. Not bad for someone who just cleans one clinic part-time.

I may be a bit envious of people who have higher paying jobs, knowing how much I'd be saving if I had them, but I also feel happy that there are people with high incomes that also do save. It makes me feel bad knowing there are doctors, engineers, scientists, etc.. who are living paycheck to paycheck. That just shouldn't happen.

My husband is in the U.S. military and I recently gave up my job in hotel management as we're going to be moving within a month. So right now, you could say I'm a homemaker.

                Hello Introduction

                Hello All,

I joined just today. A question posed to the Internet, about frozen milk, led me to this site.

I think some of my questions will be answered here. You all seem to be friendly.

I'm a CNA,(Certified Nurses Assistant), and a Minister. I'm currently stepping into the minister's role more. I, also, recieve government disability benefits.

So, to learn more about saving is important to me.

I see the tv shows about cheapskates and couponing, and I would like to save, without being deprived. I don't use too many commerical (name brand) products, so it seem to me that many coupons are not useful to me. I often find items cheaper at the dollar store, than the name brand product.

I have one elderly cat, and he likes certain Fancy Feast products. He has a thyroid problem, and so I feed hom what he he will eat. He alos takes medication. He is skinny, but, can eat a lot.

I have lived all over the USA, but, currently in the South USA. I love the weather hear for the most part, though this summer was a hot one.

Looking forward to the future with all of you.

I am a staff accountant in a very small CPA firm. I get to do a little bit of a lot of things. I process payroll for 15 small companies, prepare quarterlies (payroll, sales tax) for 28 small companies, prepare monthly or quarterly financial statements for 24 small companies, and am basically a contracted bookkeeper for 3 small companies and 1 individual with a couple dozen rentals. For those clients I do payables, receivables (including billing their customers), and do their banking.

During tax time, I get to do about 100 simple tax returns. (Individuals with rentals and/or small businesses, no corporate or partnership returns).

I enjoy my job 99% of the time.

Most places the people are just as interested in saving, but many are even more interested in making ends meet so that there is something to put into savings. In a different thread I mentioned trying to save something like around $50 month towards retirement and was told basically that it wasn't hardly worthwhile to save that little amount and I should get a better job was the implication. HMmm, I'm on disability now and have been for over 10 years. Some of us don't have the ability to get better jobs. I scrounge money where I can when I can on days that I feel well enough to do so. Then there are days like today where I've been in bed most of the day as I've been in too bad of shape to hardly hold up my head.

Seeing what folks here do and the income that they seem to make, makes me understand much better where people are coming from. Many with good incomes but still not enough money to get through the month generally have something or several somethings that they can cut from the budget to make things right where on other forums a family of 5 with $25K/hear coming in needs to know every frugal trick in the book to even be able to set aside a bit each month and for them to have a thousand dollar emergency fund is a big deal.
I hope you didn't let that comment discourage you. We all have to do the best we can with the hand we are dealt. $50 per month will have much better results than $0 per month, so you just ignore the naysayers and keep on doing what you can.

I wish you the best of luck with your health problems.
