haha I remember in high school that's what my parents rationed me every 2 weeks... At prices then, $20 was enough to fill my tank, and just enough to drive my brother and I to school and back every day for 2 weeks. Any more than that I was on my own, but it goes to show... about the same size tank now, and it's about $30 for a tank.

$2.35 today at the same station.
That's now down 34 cents since I started this thread just 10 days ago.Steve

This is really the best case scenario. Gas prices spike ridiculously high just to get alternative energy projects started, and then they drop back again to reasonable levels over the next few years while those projects are being worked on.

Nope. The gas tax is really low here. That's what keeps NJ gas prices so low. I do wish they'd allow self-service though. One thing I hate about NJ is not being able to pump my own gas.Originally posted by jamiefic View Postin NJ, the stations are full service. I thought maybe gas would be higher here because of that.Steve

Agreed, Oregon is the same way. A while ago I drove up from Colorado, pulled into a station, and got out to start pumping my gas just like normal. Man, I've never seen a station attendant move so fast! haha! Looking at me like a foreigner, he reminded me of that most annoying point... But alot of them will top off your tank without asking, which I never do (throws off my mileage calc's), so that has always kinda bugged me. Little thing... And besides, I've never really liked being "waited on", so full-service stations are always kinda awkward for me.Originally posted by disneysteve View PostI do wish they'd allow self-service though. $2.65/g for my premium here, so quite happy--filled up today for $27! Sure, it could be better, but it has been much worse.... for everyone's comparison, I honestly don't even pay attention to the price of regular, but I think it was about $2.41? -ish?

Well, I can't believe that I'm not far away from being able to fill up my tank on $20. I drove past a gas station yester, and the price was at $2.75 for regular, took only $26 to push the needle to F. I'll say in about another week or two, it'll be $2.20.

The prices have steadily dropped here in the Northeast, too. One station dropped from $2.31 to $2.28 only 8 hours later. Seems like the price drops by the afternoon. But at the opposite corner, the price is still around $2.40. Usually if it's only one or two cents, I don't bother waiting in the line for the savings because in my mind it's not a substantial amount of savings. But, when the price is more than $.10 different, I'll wait for the cheaper gas!
