Listened to DH on some financial decisions. But, again, there are some decisions I wish I had made on DH's advice. So, really I guess it's a wash in the end.

Pay myself first...in a liquid account, not just a 401k and other investments.

Not bought as much "stuff" because now I'm stuck with it and while selling on ebay is an option, lots of it is more yard sale type things and I don't feel like dealing with that so it will likely get donated.

Planned better when I went back to school 5 years ago. Not blow through the loan money and try to reduce my student loan amount by paying some as I went.

Sigh, there's more but it's too early and not enough caffiene in the system to go on

I should have bought a manual transmission PT Cruiser instead of this stupid automatic.

Now that I can drive manual well, I miss not having it. Plus I would not have had to spend the nearly $3000 I spent when the automatic transmission went out at 42k miles.

I know I am going to get jumped on, but I would not have adopted children! They did not turn out well at all.

          Financially speaking I would have,

never taken a cash advance on a credit card

never accepted high limit credit cards

never pay some agency to place you in a job (old scam from the 80's)

never take some slack settlement from an insurance co. after their driver totals my car just because I had to have something to drive immediately. I should have gotten a lawyer, totalled a paid for car (Jetta) ended up driving an old Buick

            I can understand that...

My godparents adopted kids. They were the perfect parents and provided for and helped those kids. The daughter used the opportunities and has made something of herself while the son has drifted from idea to idea. I know people often say children are a reflection of their environment, but I still say the gene pool (or puddle in some cases) often determines how someone turns out. I've seen it happen time and time again with adoptees.

Too many to list, but the main one would be to deal with the fact I didn't have enough socks as a child instead of making it up to my own children and completely overbuying for them.

Not start a business that sucked all my energy for over 8 years that I should have put into my family. I regret that more than anything.

                i would have never:
spent time and $ on "friends" that never panned out...you really only have a few true friends in life.
                also, turned down roomates
                not dated a few women
not partied as much as i did
                been there for family more
kept $ in my mutual fund, not blown it all, right about now it would be worth around $40,000
the list just goes on and on....but today is a new day

Exactly, Rusty, today is a new day and you are working towards new goals.

I would have never suggested that we take our savings and open a new business. It was the worse 2-3 years of my life!

Fortunately, Ima, you had the stamina to see it through!

This was a very good question.

I would not have gotten married
I would have finished college sooner
I would have saved money starting with my very first paycheck
I would not have destroyed my credit

Ugh, what is this taste?? Oh, the question has conjured up a bad tasting memory...

I would have accepted the fact that my ex was self-employed and could and would hide income to keep from paying child support. ($100 per month for 3 kids???) The court costs were astronomical and the situation never changed.

blah....off to get some water and think happy thoughts again.

I would not have bought many things that I thought I needed or wanted badly.

Hindsight has shown me all that glitters is not gold.
